| Weird teeth growing??? Hi guys. It's been a while since I last posted. My puppy Louie has been keeping me busy. Seems his adult teeth are growing in...but they are growing behind his puppy teeth. His top front teeth and his lower canines. Is this normal, it looks so weird, a mouth with 2 sets of teeth. I am a bit concerned, should I take him to the vet and have the puppy teeth extracted or will they fall out on their own like his 4 bottom teeth did???

| I had to get both of my yorkies baby teeth pulled cuz they didn't fall out, it is normal at least that is what my vet says, the roots of those teeth are so deep that most of them won't fall out,. the vet gave them to me also. so i'm sure your vet will have to pull them out. good luck |

| They said that they are waiting on bux's top canines to fall out and if they don't they will have to pull them. It is going to run me 100 bucks a tooth!!!! |

| Most likely the teeth will need to be pulled. Take your baby to the vet and ask soon because you don't want bad bite because of the baby teeth being in the way. Good luck! |

| Thank you guys for your responses. I thought that they would have to be pulled, now my next question is, I was planning on getting him neutered soon, should I have them pulled when he gets neutered so that he doesn't have to go under twice??? Or should I do it sooner than later and have him go under once for the teeth and another for the neutering?

| It is normal for toy breeds to retain their baby teeth. They will have to be extracted. (Our vet charged us $15 per tooth) You should just wait til you have him neutered. Most people do this so that they don't have to put their baby's under twice. Also, check with your vet, if all of the baby teeth have not fallen out/adult teeth come in yet you might want to wait on the neutering so that you can kill two birds with one stone. We waited until after Annie was 7.5 months old to have her spayed so that we could do both at one time. We wanted to give her the chance to let them fall out on their own. But still had to have 4 pulled. But I know with boys you run into the risk of humping and marking if you wait to too long. So consult your vet about timing... |

| Teddy had 2 retaining baby teeth and I had it pulled when I had him neutered. You don't want to put a dog under more than necessary. |
