| Can I mix hard and soft food? I was told to feed my furbaby Pro Plan for puppies and then the guy at the pet store said that it was CRAP and that nutrience would be better for the puppy . I bought 2 big bags of Pro Plan and a couple cans of soft Nutrience food and decided just the other day to mix the two of them but Mylo ended up with some pretty nasty gas....It was really, really bad! So bad that my husband left the room LOL. Now he refuses to just eat the hard food. He doesn't eat as much as he did before I introduced the soft food. I was a little worried because I didn't think he was eating enough so I added some more nutrience with the pro plan and he ate like he was starving to death. Can I mix the two and just hope the gas goes away before my husband does Or can someone recommend a good dog food. Thanks Jen |

| I only mix hard and soft on occasion as a "treat" you know. I found that feeding them like that on a regular, will definately change their "stool"... and my DH wasnt liking it either. We feed Meka Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul & she loves it. If the food your feeding your pup as any corn or other fillers than you should think of changing it... Innova, Timberwolf & Canidea are brands some members use... Search the different forums for others who've wrote about this... Then you'll be able to see the feedback they got... Hope this helps and congrats on your pup

| I have 3 yorkies and they love Halo's Lamb canned food. They often have Merrick Dry kibble, but they adore Halo and Canidade. |

| I mix canned and dry and have done so since day one. I really like the Timberwolf Organic Wild and Natural dry. The kibble are very tiny and very digestible. When Gracie was a baby, I mixed some dry Merrick puppy plate with the wet puppy plate. That worked out great until Merrick started having some quality issues. By then Gracie was old enough to switch to an all stages food. She dearly loves Evangers canned. I have learned that puppies will eat what they want, when they want. Sometimes they can eat like little pigs and other times they can go on a food strike that lasts for days. Just keep some Nutrical on hand just in case.

| LOL Yes you can mix wet and dry food, but try not to go to heavy on the wet food.

| The canned food made him gassy. You have to get the right mix. Mine can't have canned every day, but every other day is OK. For kibble - Canidae, Merrick, Innova or Orijen For canned - Merrick or Evangers You'll need to go to a specialty pet store, not like a big box Petsmart. Also all of those will send you samples or coupons if you ask. For picky eaters don't get the nasty IAMS gravy. I recommend the liver biscotti sprinkles. I carry them on my site. But, how old is he? Could he be teething? Try adding a bit of good quality chicken to soften the kibble. Or, try yogurt or 100% canned pumpkin. Canned food is FINE to feed if you get a good quality food, but you definitely want him to get used to eating kibble now so he doesn't turn into a picky eater later. Loki went through all sorts of issues where he didn't like the bowl we had for him, but he would eat it off the plate or the floor or out of my hand. Try experimenting and something might work.

| I think canned food is better than dry anyway. Dry food is so overcooked and overprocessed and lacks moisture. Canned food is less processed and has moisture in it that's better for them. Stay away from proplan. It is crap. Good canned foods are Nature's Variety Instinct, Innova Evo, California Natural, Merrick, Wellness, Canidae, among others. I prefer grain-free

| I keep dry out at al times but for dinner I mix 1 tbsp of wet with a small amount of dry. I have been trying to get a bit more weight on Angel and they both enjoy it. I feed mine Nature's Variety brand foods.
