| Important question!! Hi. I've searched the threads and can't seem to find the answer to this. Yesterday when we got in from being outside for maybe 5 minutes, Sully was trying to lick his back paws a lot and doesn't usually do this, so we looked and the two middle nails on both back feet (and one of the front ones after looking at them) are all white going down the middle to the base of the nail- it almost seems like the bottom part of the nail is split or chipped! Do you think this is from the recent colder weather? Should I take him to the vet? I last cut his nails about 2 weeks ago.. Any help would really be appreciated! |

| Do you take him to be groomed? My first step would be to ask the groomer if she knows what it is & if not then I would ask the wet. It could be anything, they could be dry, or he could of gotten into salt.

| splitting If there splitting up to base you could put acrylic to keep it from splitting any further up and add flax seed oil to diet |

| Thanks for your advice! Thanks for the tips. I called the vet and she said it could be due to the cold weather or that the last time they were cut, it wasn't a "clean" cut and that could have contributed to it. We're going in this afternoon and they are going to trim them and brush something on them (a name I didn't understand) to keep them from splitting further. |
