| Yorkie not eating much My 11-week old girl Ebi is not eating the recommended portion of food (.5 cup of Science diet per day). We feed her 2x .25 cup per day and she has been eating 70-80%, which I thought is fine. But for the last 2 days she didn't eat much. Yesterday she ate less than .25 cup the entire day. She is still very active and every time we see her (we keep her in an excercise pen when we are at work), she jumps up and down and just wanted to play. We give her the nutrical every meal and occasionally treat; she loves them every time...just not the main food. Should I be concerned about her 1) not eating the recommended portion and 2) not eating much the last day? |

| I would be concerned about her not wanting to eat much at all one day. It does happen but hypoglycemia is a major concern. The nutrical is good if she isn't eating, but it doesn't solve much. Please consider feeding atleast 3x daily (or 4). Twice a day is not enough for puppies. You could also change her food because Science Diet is not a very good one (I know it's a shock to hear that). You could also go with some canned for now (or forever actually because it's better for them) because I"m sure she will eat that.

| Meka went through a short phase of not eating her food. We had her on Iams for a while and she just wouldnt eat it. I had to get her to eat it, by feeding her from my hand... She scratched a lot, which I determined was caused by the food - so we switched to Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul and Ive never had that problem again. We feed her twice a day and she's always ready to eat... So, perhaps you might want to consider changing her food... Each pup is different. Ive always feed Meka twice a day. We started out letting her free feed and she almost always never really ate that much. So feeding her twice a day is what worked best for her. Keep in mind that they are pups... and if a humans stomach is the size of a fist, then a pups stomach is by far much smaller.

| I would take her off Science Diet, and switch to a better food. I hope your baby starts eating again.

| The problem I have is I was originally feeding her regular Sci Di, but switched to Royal Canin. This caused her poop to be watery and created a mess, so I bought this Natural ingredient version of Sci Di (which is supposed to be a premium version of the regular Sci Di), and it fixed the poop problem. I am afraid of switching food again.... Do you think she will eventually eat when she becomes hungry? What I have done was put Nutrical under the food on my hand, and it was working well until yesterday. Also, just curious, do all your puppies eat 100% of the recommended amount? I want to see if she was normal even before yesterday. I heard wet food is supposed to be bad for their teeth/liver, so I tried to stick to dry diet...any truth to it? |

| Well, as I posted earlier... Ive changed Meka's food 3x total. Eukanueba to Iams and now Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul. Shes doing just fine (8 mo). I dont think its a problem to switch their food, especially if its to something much healthier and w/o all the corn fillers that other foods have. Ive learned quite a bit here on YT... the main thing being that you should try to find foods that have good protein and no corn. As I stated before, Meka has displayed that same thing and changing food was the answer. If you are still concerned maybe you should speak with your vet.
