| drinking too much water? she got a bath tonight, which is something she's used to because she gets 2 or so a week, but tonight she drank way more water than usual. she just kept drinking and drinking it up and i eventually had to stop her from doing it. to make matters even worse, she jumped off the bed with a loud "thud" after the bath. anyway, she started bleeding out of her nose, which i am guessing had to do with her jumping off of the bed, but she's very very lethargic now and has vomited up the water twice. she's really salivating now too, to the point of making puddles on the blanket. she's hardly even moving and doesn't move when talked to. have any of you had a problem like this when your yorkie drank too much water? |

| I would be taking her to the vet. The bleeding from her nose alone would freak me out. Let us know what happens. Will be praying for your little one.

| Pixie, you are bathing her too much...You will in the long run, end up ruining her hair, as you wash out the natural oils..I've never had any of mine drink the bath water when having a bath..I don't give mine their baths anymore, take them to a groomer every few mos. but, I used to bathe them and never had one drink the bath water |

| Are you filling the "tub" or using a sprayer? I don't give "baths" it's more comparable to a shower. Put furbaby in the kitchen sink with a non-skid rubber mat and use the sprayer. I also use the other side for a pot of warm water that I "pre-warm" the shampoo & conditioner in. If you want a great sprayer system so you don't have to keep manually turning off the water (it's a bugger to find the right temperature again), go to home depot and get a "toggle" adapter. Alana

| I think bathing depends on the dog. Just like humans. Some humans wash their hair every day, others every few days etc. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Both my girls drink a lot of water. Isn't excessive water drinking a possible sign of diabetes? (I know humans is, not sure about dogs) I would take her to the vet, just to be safe.

I did foster a really nasty girl earlier in the year who was a complete pig... I went and got a wire rabbit cage with a raised wire bottom. It measures about 3' long x 2' wide x 2' high. I only used it for bed and when I was out, the rest of the time I had a gate across the kitchen door.

it does have the room for all those things though. i think it's like 15 square feet or something so that's definitely enough. she must have drank a ridiculous amount of water though, but it's still coming out of both sides of her mouth. really gross.... | |

| As long as you aren't noticing dry skin, 2 times a week is okay. I wouldn't bathe any more often than that though. I bathe once a week normally but sometimes every 4-5 days depending on what's going on. By the end of the week, Lacy's hair gets oily and she just doesn't look as good anymore. Her hair is much softer and prettier after a bath. I don't know what initially caused her to drink so much water. But the nose bleeding, salivating, drooling, and lethargy leads me to believe that she could have a head injury. Please keep a good eye on her. She may need to go to the ER

| I'm just telling you what the GROOMER here that has been grooming 15 years told me about the bathing! Now, I do have some good proof on the dry ugly hair on them from to much bathing..My sister used to bathe her yorkie once a week religiously, well, that yorkie is going on 12, and her once beautiful shiny coat is very dull and dingy looking..Mine is almost 5, she gets a bath once every 3=4 mos. and her hair when I comb her is beautiful and shiny.. They do make wipes for them that you can use if she is stinky.... |
