| Ginger's First Menstruation My little girl is all grown up now .. I just had a few questions... I know that when they are in "heat" it lasts around 23 days? Does this mean she will be bleeding for 23 days too? Please Don't Laugh at me Lol.. but those freaking dainty Protection Panties did not work at all! the pads were soooo thin.. they'd get soaked from Ginger Peeing in it.. SO.. i've decided to make a homemade diaper with a real thick pad in there so it'll be like a real diaper.. i'll have to clean her butt too, but i don't mind And I've made Oreo a Homemade Belly Band lol.. again.. please don't laugh.. well i wouldn't blame you if you did.. cause i sure had a hoot myself after seeing these pictures!! |

But Ginger is the one who's having her period .. It's not a lot..as us women.. but yea .. I actually want to know how long her period will last myself.. I've bought the thin sanitary napkins for 1 dollar at my local pet place.. but the pad i've put on Ginger is the same pad I use for myself... (the brand is called Always).. I cut it so it'll fit for Ginger, and I used the other portion I cut off for Oreo. | |

| I just bought a package of premie baby diapers for Zowie. Little hole for the tail and away you go!

| Funny pictures! I think yorkierose suggested those "little swimmers" diapers for babies and put a whole in it for the tail. I haven't really had to use diapers on my girls, as they kept themselves quite clean. I've been told that those depends pads for urinary incontinence for people work well for belly bands and to soak up pee. I think the thin panty liners are probably ok for the bleeding. One of mine was just in heat and I can't for the life of me remember exactly how long she bled, I think maybe 7-10 days, it was not the entire time. She was very swollen down there and her mammory glands are still swollen and a bit hard. |

| Yes she will bled for about 10 days afterwards the blood is going to be lighter in colour. But I want to tell you, be careful with your dogs, because that bands you put them on do not protect you from getting babies of your bitch. So please be very careful and watch them what they´re doing. |

| Actually if you can live with the blood the first time, she will learn to keep herself clean and you'll never have to worry about her periods again But you have to suffer that first time...and let me tell you...we have a white couch...ARGH...

| I've heard that preemie baby diapers work very well also. They are disposable, so after they PP or Poo, in the trash they go.

| I'm sorry but this hit my funny bone. I felt like a kid trying to discuss with my friends what to do the first time I got my period. Brought back a lot of funny memories. |

| soo this should last 7-10 days?! lol Oreo's been trying to mark anything and everything that Ginger's little bum or blood touches.. It's a good thing i have that homemade belly band LOL.. As for accidental pregnancy.. Ginger actually hates Oreo lol well now she does.. she will not let him go near her (im guessing is a good thing).. They are always on strict supervision and usually are always separated.. (Ginger gets very fiesty if he goes near her).. her vulva is so swollen.. is it supposed to be like that? |

| Yes it will get quite swollen for a a few weeks. Just remember, it only takes a short time of them being alone to get pregnant, and when she's ready for a male, she's ready! So never leave them together unsupervised. When she is ready she WILL want to be around him, flippin that tail in his face. It's a little comical to watch. You will understand the meaning of love sick puppy. My females flirted with my male golden retriever, he has no idea why as he is neutered and could care less. |

| I think their cycle lasts like 3 weeks, the first week she will not like him, it is in the second week they go crazy. She will LOVE him then. One of my friends told me Bronx was to young, and he was giving every sign he had no idea how to get it right. One morning they were whining and BINGO, he figured it out. My two were inseparable before that, I will say - they loved each other, played together all the time, slept together; I didn't think I could keep them apart for all that time. When Zowie got prego, after 4 weeks, she REALLY hated Bronx. They fought so badly, we had to buy a new cage. They had to be separated ALL THE TIME. This has gone one for 2 months now. She would just look at him, and they would start to fight. If you picked one up, they would lift the other with their teeth. He tore up her eye, it gooked shut for several days; They both still have scars. Finally, Bronx is now allowed to play with the puppies and they have stopped fighting. As much as I love the puppies, I did not like my babies fighting, I was a slave to them for 2 months, moving them from room to room and cage to cage to keep them apart. Any slip up and they were fighting. Now I know I can separate them for a couple of weeks for heat.
