| Home Cookers and Chicken I Home cook for Zoey. She gets Boiled Chicken, brown rice and carrots. I add in Bone meal and Missing link and give a daily multi vit. My question is about boiling chicken. Should I try to skim off the fat, or does she need it. How long do I cook the chicken. If I boil it til it is really, really tender, and I boiling away nutrition? Also, does anyone have tips for cooking brown rice? It takes forever and never comes out looking very good.

| I really don't know the answer to this so someone else needs to tell you but. I had a nutritional consult for Ellie and the recipe calls for "chicken, white, cooked". I would say that that means no visable fat. This recipe calls for a tsp. of butter or oil (like canola) for the fat. I see you are using carrots. That is a very good choice but do you ever mix it up a bit and either replace or better yet add to that? Some other good veggies are green beans, broccili, baby spinach, bell peppers and squashes. How much does ZoeyBear weigh?

| I don't make the rice but I do boil the chicken for Buddy. I buy only boneless chicken breasts and depending on their size I boil them for 20-30mins. Any longer and they become tough. Then I freeze them in a zip lock bag and take one out as needed. They defrost overnight in the refrigerator. |

| I cook a bag of boneless, skinless chicken tenders by quickly browning them in a couple tablespoons xtra virgin olive oil or seasme oil. When brown and while hot, I add about 1/2 cup ice water, quickly cover and simmer for about 30-40 minutes or until very tender. I then add about 5-6 cups more water and simmer a while longer [10-15 minutes]. I drain off the broth and strain it. I freeze the broth in ice trays and seal the cubes in Food Saver bags ... also after the tenders are frozen I also seal them ... a half dozen or so per bag. When I get ready to feed Toto, I finely chop about 1/3 - 1/2 chicken tender, add about 1 teaspoon mashed carrots, 1 teaspoon mashed green beans and a couple tablespoons broth. I add this mixture to about 1 tablespoon re-hydrated Force [from the Honest Kitchen] and she loves it!! I give her this for breakfast, about lunchtime she gets about a tablespoon Innova Small Bites kibble and when we have our dinner she gets another tablespoon. Around 6-7 PM she dances for us and gets a dehydrated chicken tender [kinda like jerky] and that's pretty much what our baby eats! Didn't mean to make this so long but we are very proud of her health!!
