Help: Looking for a 2nd Yorkie in NY/NJ area My experience with my 17-month old Yorkie Rylie has been so wonderful that I have decided to get another one. I have the time to devote to a baby and I think Rylie would do well to have a little sister. Recently my boyfriend and I---who equally love & care for Rylie-- found an abandoned kitten with the umbilical cord still attached and tried to nurse it back to health. Rylie fell in love with this tiny creature and was fiercely protective and loving of it as we were. Unfortunately it was too young and died a day later. The experience showed me that Rylie would be a wonderful big brother. Can anyone please suggest several reputable breeders in the area that have Yorkies? I am interested in getting one before the holidays as I travel to Memphis and would want the puppy to be old enough to travel with me. I would prefer a healthy little girl but a healthy little boy would be wonderful too. I have tried the shelters in the area, but the few Yorkies I've heard about are very old and have major health issues. As much as I would love to take on that type of responsibility, I'm not at a stage where I can right now. The death of the sick kitten is still heavy on our hearts. Can anyone help? Thanks so much in advance, Michelle

Rylie has a new little sister! Hi, Sorry would've got back to you all sooner but the babies have been keeping me busy! We got our new pride & joy Layla on Saturday. She has been been amazing! At a little over a pound she makes up for her size with lots of love and a big personality! At first Rylie didn't know what to make of this one pound ball of fluff. She was following him around and instead of barking, she squeaks! But he's getting use to having her around and they play together a lot now. He licks her a lot and they have fallen asleep a few times wrapped in each other's arms. I think introducing them at the breeder's home definitely helped them bond as well as the 6 hour drive back home from the breeder. It was all worth it. Soooo, so far so good! We are sleep deprived because Layla is not showing us her potty training skills-- she wakes up covered in her urine and cries until we clean & dry her-- but I think with time she'll get on a schedule just like her big brother. The breeder was wonderful. She answered all my questions and responded to all my emails right away. I got to meet Layla's parents & extended family and I felt very good about the breeder and her techniques. Layla's going to the vet for her first official check up to make sure all is well. But I imagine we have lots of happy, healthy years to share together and Rylie & I are looking forward to it!!! I will try to send pics soon!

Trying to post pics! Hi all, It's been a while since I've been on line... I know I promised to post pics but I'm having trouble getting my standard JPEGS uploaded... anyone have any suggestions? Layla is doing well and so is Rylie. They are two peas in a pod. She's still too small to spend too much time playing with Ry but they have fun when they are together. She's very quick and already steals toys & things from Rylie before he has a chance to know what she's about to do! They are funny to watch. Layla is completely wee wee pad trained and she lets me know when she needs to go. It took a lot of patience --and a lot of accidents-- but I truly believe she was able to train quickly because from watching Rylie and because I kept her in an enclosed playpen. She was allowed out as soon as she peed or pooed on her pad inside the pen and she learned to act for a reward: freedom. Thank goodness! Last week we took both babies in the car to PA and the ride was 4 hours. We stopped after two hours of driving and I laid the wee wee pad on the floor of the car and Layla went potty like a pro. I was sooooooooo proud. Anyway, any help on posting pics would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks, Michelle

Rylie & Layla Progress Report Hi all, I posted a picture on this site but for the life of me I have no idea how to retrieve it; I put it on a link with a bunch of other people's photos soewhere on this site... Laya is now 4 months old and doing so well-- she weighs almost 4 pounds! She's completely potty trained and can hold her own against big brother Rylie. She's so smart and so loving-- she's always giving out kisses. The only concerns I have are her health-- she's always very hungry and our vet just found a worm in her stool. The other thing that concerns me is that she acts very afraid of people that she passes in the street. She sometimes backs up or barks. I wish she was more social and friendly like Rylie is, but I guess we can work on that... Other than those minor issues, Layla is a complete joy. She's brought so much joy to our lives. Rylie adores her. We use to feel so guilty about leaving him at home while we went to work but now we are comforted in knowing he has Layla to play with. They make a great pair and I absolutely love waking up and finding them cuddled up next to each other on the other side of the bed. I could never explain what it's like to come home and have two little dogs make you feel like royalty when you walk in the door. The joy on their faces when they see me is indescribable. I wish everyone could feel that feeling... Happy holidays to all! Michelle, Ry & Layla bean
