Yorkie Penis Issue. - YorkieTalk.com Forums

Hello, I found this community through a search engine because I've been extremely worried about my boy, Wookiee (original yorkie name huh?). He is around 2 years old and is neutered. The first day we brought him home he instantly fell in love with a stuffed cat I have. My boyfriend and I now call her Martina. Wookiee and Martina have a serious romantic history. We have 2 other dogs in our family and we have always thought that Wookiee humped the stuffed cat as a domination sort of thing.. since the other dogs are too big for him to dominate. He has been humping this stuffed cat for 2 years now and we send Martina in the washer every couple of weeks and there has never been an issue.. never changed fabric detergent or anything like that.

Wookiee greeted me this morning like he always does and i glanced down at his penis and it was still poking out.. usually he will hump Martina at night and the next morning his penis will be back in his body. Anyway, the tip of his penis was out and it was also extremely swollen.. which to my knowledge has never really happened... As the day went by i continued to check on his penis and around 7 hours later it looked like it had gone back in his body.. although it was still a tad swollen. An hour or so ago he was humping the stuffed cat again (seriously hes always humping her) and all of a sudden i hear him yelp and lick his penis. I panicked a bit and went to my dad.. he said we'd call in tomorrow and try to get him an appointment.

The only other time we have ever run into problems concerning his penis was when it had been awhile since his last grooming and the hair had grown too much around his penis. I am always very paranoid that something will get stuck between his skin and the actual penis so I try every day to check it. He is constantly licking himself so we always thought he was doing what he had to to keep himself clean.

I've taken Martina away and we are hopefully going to snag an appointment with the vet tomorrow. I have had a hard time thinking about anything but my poor baby Wookiee. He hasn't been yelping or anything since I took the stuffed cat away. Hes sleeping right now.. but I can't help but worry about him.

Do you all have any tips and should I not let him have his true love, Martina back?

I'm sorry this was so long-winded. I wanted to make sure not to leave anything out.

Sorry I don't have any advice, I have 3 females. But i wouldn't give Martina back until the vet can chec him out. Hope you can get him taken care of soon.

Tbone used to hump any stuffed toy that was big enough for it, but since I don't want him to develop any dominant tendencies (or want him to start doing it to my other dog or other people) I don't encourage it. It sounds like it has become an obsession with your dog, and doing anything in excess isn't good for pups. We have had some penis problems with Tbone, mainly from either a grooming incident or from him "over-grooming" it himself. It surely isn't anything life threatening, it is probably just causing him some discomfort, and going to the vet is the best thing for him. They will most likely give you some ointment to apply and tell you to keep him from doing whatever it is that is irritating his puppy parts. "Over exposure" or "frequent use" is probably what is causing the problem, and if his behavior is causing him discomfort, you need to try to stop it. I know it is CUTE!! but if it is causing irritation and swelling, then it isn't worth it, for him or for you. Best of luck! Maybe try to distract him with a good chew toy or something when he is in a "randy" mood.

Thank you so much for your advice! I'm so appreciative. It's kind of funny because the stuffed cat is the only thing he will hump.. maybe hes very picky when it comes to women. It's just so bizarre to me since he is neutered. I had never heard of a neutered dog being so... frisky.. perhaps my dog just sees it as a habit like you said. I think I'm going to retire Martina and hope he doesn't get too upset that his lover is gone. Thank you again!

Tbone is neutered, and has been since he was about 8 weeks old. I think that he does it to burn off excess energy. Glad I could be of some help. When we took Tbone to the vet for his first penis issue, it was me, my BF, my male vet and a male vet tech, so it was a room full of guys trying to get Tbone to bare all while I sat there and blushed!!!

hahaha! you poor thing. i hope that whole experience didn't scar you too badly. hehe. at least you were able to get your doggy some help. i wonder which one of you the experience was harder for. hehe

Pixel. My male Yorkie was neutered yet he still had the urge. One morning we had the same issue. His little winkie was stuck. This was the first it had happened and I panicked and called the vet. He said to put an ice cube on it. Of course I couldn't leave it too long as it may burn him from being so cold. I know this may sound gross but, another way is to take a Q tip and put some vasaline on it and kind of put it under the skin to help ease it back in. Up until the day Newman passed away (almost ten years old) he was still trying from time to time to get a little piece. LOL. Horny little boys

Anyway, I def. would take Miss Kitty away from him. No sense in encouraging it. Best of luck. Elaine

The stuffed cat needs to be taken away. PERMANENTLY. This should end the problem.

poor guy Kodi does this with his (fox) And he is not dominate at all so it is not always a dominace thing.
And as for Kitty. sometimes you just have to give (kitty) a break for a while

It's not only the boys that do this. My female chihuahua, who has been spade since she was 1, has a "favorite" stuffed bunny. She goes at it so hard that she whacks her head on the floor. LOL

OK, so because I am among friends, I will tell you my story. haha! Tino has "Molly" we bought him at Babie'r'us. She is a stuffed animal doggie and I originally bought her so he could cuddle with her, but turns out he had other ideas. She has become his girlfriend, even though he has long-been neutered, and personally I have no problem with it. About twice a week, he pulls her out of his toy bin by the ear and "has personal time" with her. It isn't an aggression thing, in fact after the "deed" he licks her and literally falls asleep on her sometimes.

We have a younger female yorkie and her has NEVER tried to hump her or dominate her, in fact when she went into heat he didn't want to be near her...and SHE humped him, but that is another story alltogether.

Sometimes his penis gets stuck out a bit and we just dab a bit of lube on him and he is fine, it goes back in on its own...some say to put a bit of sugar on it, then he will lick it and help lube himself naturally. Either way, we let him have his fun...

i had to take Wookiee's girlfriend away the other night and ever since.. hes been looking around frantically for her. I feel really bad about it actually..

We took him to the vet yesterday and when we got there the vet said that his penis was perfectly fine.. all of the swelling went down. Luckily Wookiee needed some shots so the vet visit was worth it.

Thank you all for sharing your stories.. some of them way too funny. I really appreciate you all taking your time out just to give me advice!

Wookiee and his boy-parts are doing just fine. He is missing his girlfriend but at least he won't have that problem again.... unless he gets a hold of another object to hump. haha. Thanks again!
