| Fleas I was reading about not putting K9 Advantics on puppies for fleas, my baby is only 2 months old and has only been home for a few days, and somehow has gotten fleas, probably from all his visiting his new family and their pets but i am unsure what to use, the stuff your supposed to put on their neck isnt supposed to be good for them, but im not sure i am wondering what others have done, my baby is so itchy and i feel so horrible |

Or you can bathe him in Dawn Liquid (the original Dawn) which will kill the fleas immediately, but won't keep them off of him.

| K9 Advantix is safe for puppies over seven weeks old. Since you just got your puppy, I assume you are probably going to take him to the vet this week, so check with your vet first. You do want to get rid of those fleas. They can cause tapeworms and they also weaken a puppy's delicate immune system. You mentioned your puppy visiting other dogs. Your breeder should have told you and I'm sure your vet will when you take him, but your puppy should be kept away from other dogs until he's had all his shots which is about 4&1/2 months. Any immunity that he may still have from nursing can actually kill off the first vaccines so he may be completely unprotected from deadly diseases. He will need the full cycle of shots plus two weeks for full immunity before it is safe for him to be around other dogs. That includes grooming salons, pet stores, dog parks, etc and common areas where other dogs are walked as the ground can be contaminated with the parvo virus. We just had a sad story here on the local news in July. A family lost their two Pomeranian puppies to parvo. They'd had two out of the three shots and the owners thought they were protected. |

| Be very careful with flea shampoo. Watch him for signs of allergies or discomfort. Flea shampoo can be very dangerous, especially for a dog that young. I would use regular Dawn dish soap before I use any kind of flea shampoo. Dawn kills the fleas instantly and is non-toxic...
