| UPDATE: Roxy's Liver Levels Guys this is not good. Reference Range: Pre < 10.0 and Post < 20.0 TJ: Pre = 5 and Post = 43 Roxy: Pre = 43 and Post = 100.9 I just made an appointment for the Ultrasound for Roxy. The Specialist is on Vacation and I can't get an appt. until 9/5 - I don't know what to do? Do I wait or do I call my Vet to give me another referral? The Vet said TJ post levels were high and that if I have the $ it would be worth it to do an ultrasound on him too. I agree, but I need to focus on Roxy this moment. I am so upset. Roxy has been through so much and with levels like her.... Now I need to research some food ASAP. I can't, no way, bring myself to feed them crap Hills LD - which the Vet recommended. I told him I just can't feed them by-products. He said ok. I told him I will find some recipes online. OMG I can't even think right now |

| Hi Nicole..... I don't know what to say.....I think you'd probably be fine waiting until the 5th but you'll have a breadown by then. In the same breath, I've heard the ultrasound is only as good as the person "reading" it. Maybe call your Vet tomorrow and see if he can recommend someone he trusts as much as this one. Now is this an Internist Roxy has to see? If so, please consider one around here by me. Kalina82 can tell you how wonderful he is. I'm here.....what can I do?

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | oh no. Those levels are really off. I'm so sorry don't give up hope. She's not showing any signs so maybe the results are wrong or slightly off. i don't blame you for not wanting to feed the L/D. I'm sure there is something better out there for your two.

| I am sorry to hear that the levels are off like that But they're not off the charts, so that's good news. Miko's levels were well over 300, and here he is 3 yrs later and doing fine! Yorkiemalt is right, an ultrasound is only as good as the person reading it. Make sure that if they do an ultrasound, it's done by someone experienced with liver issues AND make sure it's a Doppler Ultrasound...The doppler ultrasound will help determine if she has an extrahepatic shunt that is operable or if she needs to be medically managed through diet and supplements and lactulose. There's no need to feed the l/d...I don't recommend it. Royal Canin LS 14 is better, but the best is homecooked foods...On the liver shunt group that I told you about and in the pm I sent, there are links to some recipes for liver compromised dogs.

| Roxy's levels are so high. The Vet told me that she is very LUCKY to have awoken out of all the surgeries that she went through. I could vomit! She was spayed at her first Vet. And then 2x for LP surgery - OMG - I can't believe that I committed her to situations that she may not have made it through (3x) - I am so sick to my stomach with greif and fear. I have to find some food for them now. |

| The referral is for Dr. Levitan at the Center for Specialist Vet Care in Westbury. The same place where Roxy had her LP surgery. Dr. Levitan is HIGHLY recommended by many people I know. Here is some info about her: http://www.vetspecialist.com/index.p...cine%20Doctors Here they talk about the ultrasound: http://www.vetspecialist.com/index.p...ng%20at%20CSVC What do you think? I got some food recipes over at the Yahoo Group. For breakfast I only have dried fruit and Organic Low Fat Yogurt and fat free organic cottage cheese and organic brown eggs. I just can't bring myself to go to the food store right now. Tomorrow I will go to Wild By Nature and get all the stuff needed for that Liver Cleanse Recipe |

| Looks pretty good! I didn't see the mention of doppler, but I'm sure you can just call and find out The yogurt and fruits will be fine for breakfast, and you can mix a little egg with some rice for them too. Mine gets cottage cheese as well. This will hold them over until you can get the ingredients. I usually make the recipe in bigger batches so it will last awhile. Oh, I forgot to mention that the recipe is safe for long-term use

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I would see if there is another as qualified specialist they can recommend, if not try and think positive. Cali's internal meds specialist who doagnosed her MVD said that in her expereience Bile Acid post levels of 100 or less generally indicated MVD not an external shunt, and that is what Cali has and she is fine. I am like you I want to get my baby in as soon as possible. I will keep you all in my prayers.

I will get the milk thistle as well. I will call the Center tomorrow and ask about the Doppler. I can't imagine them not having that technology I am so shot right now and my babies are just playing like they have no care in the world. I am just still so baffled that Roxy has no classical signs? How is that possible? | |
