| constipation then diarrhea :( I haven't been to the site for awhile, but hi again everyone. Yesterday Maggie barely ate, and didn't poo once. I was really nervous about it but figured it was nothing major. I took her outside this morning and she went "#1" but still didn't have a bm. At about 1145am today i left my apartment for 5 minutes.. when i came back she had loose stools/diarrhea in 3 places in my living room. The one looked like there was mucous in it. I cleaned up as much as i could but had to be somewhere. She seemed somewhat lethargic but when called she got excited. I came back after being gone for about an hour and a half and there were 2 more messes. Both soft and muscousy(spelling?). She's walking with her bum down a little (i think just because i need to wash her backside and it's bothering her) and now she's lying down. I almost forgot to mention that when i walked in the door she burped and spit up a little. Clear- i think just water..but she does that on occasion. Should I be concerned? Someone let me know ASAP! thanks.

| This happened to Babybear yesterday also. I gave him a quarter pepcid ac 10mg right after seeing him poop mucusy poop and then I gave him another quarter tablet with his meal at 8 pm. He has been doing fine since. Hope this helps you a little bit. Babybear is a very picky eater and he never (he wont drink water) drinks water he will only drink coffee milk diluted. So when he isn't feeling well it scares me to give him this because I am scare it will curdle in his belly, but he does just fine. Hopefully you can call your vet and see what they recommend for you baby.

| This has been happening to my 4 month old Max as well. We got him home as a 3 month old puppy and he developed a cough 1 week after we got him home. The vet gave him antibiotics which caused diarrhea so he gave some anti diarrhea medication. Two nights ago we had to take him to emergency because he was looking extremely lethargic and not eating anything. The ER vet gave him subcutanous IV and Max was fine for 24 hrs. His poo is part solid and part watery, he has been occasionally throwing up mucousy stuff. When he eats he only eats boiled chicken and rice and sometimes he will not touch it at all. I try giving him pedialite and nutrical to keep his sugar levels high.If Maggie is a fussy eater try the following foods which worked with Max Baby Gerber chicken Boiled chicken diced very fine with or without rice Nutrical (you can get it at Pet stores or Vet's office) Pedialite instead of water. What worries me is Max has been with us 1 month only and we have been to the Vet 5 times. They just check his CBC and say everything is fine. I am a first time dog owner so I dont know a good Vet from Bad. Is a blood count the only way of diagnosing puppy ilness? Or should I be looking for a new Vet? Max has also gotten various booster shots during the month including Rabies when he turned 4 months. Could that be the reason for his ill health? |

| I have talked to my vet and he does not recommend giving shots when the pups are not felling well or their immune systems are week from infection, vomiting, and so on. This might now have helped Max with being sick. There has got to be a reason why little Max is not feeling well. Please if you do not like what you vet is telling you find another. You are Max's voice where he can not stick up for himself with the vets. Just like a child you need to put your foot down with some vets. If you do not think they are getting things done right you tell them. You will get your answers that way.

| anal gland issue? My senior gal does the same thing--tries to poop, nothing, then runny stools. It's her anal sacs--they get plugged up. I put 1cc of mineral oil in her food-helps a ton. Pam |
