| broken nails! Brigette will be 4 yrs in November, and in the past 3 months, I had to take her to the emergency vet twice. Her front outside nail, one on each front paw on different occasions, was ripped out and she had horrible bleeding and obviously couldn't walk on it. The first time I took her, they removed the nail and bandaged her for a week. The second time, it was a different emergency vet, and he insisted on sedating her to remove the nail and to cut the rest extremely short. She had just been to the groomer about a week before and her nails were at a perfect length from that. Any suggestions on what may be causing this? And what are your thoughts on the sedation? It made me really nervous for him to put her under, as she's only 4lbs.

| My shih poo's nails split sometimes but I need to keep them shorter. He hates for them to be trimmed and I have a hard time doing it myself. I usually have to wait til someone comes to visit and recruit them to help me. Good Luck. I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions.
