| Opinions Needed about Snoot Hi everyone, this isn't about my yorkie girls but I hope this is still ok to post in here. I have a 12 year old pekingese named Snoot. He's always been the healthiest little guy. He's never had anything seriously wrong with him. I'd say he's only had minor colds probably five times total in his entire life. He's been acting fine but today all of a sudden he rolled on his back and went stiff and left out this terrible scream. He was arching his back also and had his neck positioned kinda odd. I honestly thought he was dieing. I've never seen anything like this in my life. I was terrified to move him and just rubbed his little head. He just kept looking at me and in a few seconds he rolled back over. For some reason I checked his tongue and it looked very light pink. It wasn't white but not nearly as pink as usual. I was just panicing so bad that I gave him nutri-cal. I have no idea if that was wrong to do. Snoot's never ever had a sugar problem but since his tongue looked that way, it was my first thought, so I gave him some. Before giving the nutri-cal he did seem to return to himself but slightly shaken up still. I still went ahead and gave him some. By this point I was hysterical and crying and when I cry Snoot gets upset, so I have no idea if he was acting upset still because of my behavior. Once I calmed down he seemed fine. He followed me to the kitchen and I fed him. He's walking around like nothing happened. After eating he grabbed his favorite bone and started to chew and is now napping. I'm just so upset. Should I take him to the ER? Has anyone ever had this happen to their furbaby? My first thought was a mini-stroke or a seizsure? These are just thoughts. I'm just so worked up and have no idea what to do. Mikey is working and my entire family lives 3 hr. + away. Thanks for listening to me about this. Any thoughts are appreciated it. Dina

| You should have the little one examined by your vet . It sound like seizure . When Zsa Zsa was 10 years old , she started to act weird so I brought her to the vet , he gave her medications and he wanted to see her every six months to evaluate her . I am praying for Snoot . |

| Aww, poor Snoot and poor YOU That had to be so scary I agree with seeing the vet. I think that giving the Nutrical can never hurt, except if it's given too much. Just a dab is good and it could save a dog's life, so it's a good thing to do I hope it's nothing serious

| Poor Snoot! Had it been a long time since he had eaten? Could he have gotten into anything in the yard, like grub-ex or mole killer or even fertilizer? I wish I could help you more. If you have a good vet that you trust, you could call and ask them for an opinion. Glad he's doing better now, I'm sure you were terrified.

Thank you. He's going to the vet this week. He hasn't been acting strange at all and was actually just at the vet less then a month ago for his normal check up and rabbies vac. Now that he's older I get blood work done yearly to make sure nothing strange is going on and he checked out fine again. He's his typical self, nothing odd at all. This just happened all of a sudden and lasted about a minute and then he was fine. I just hope it never happens again.

Hi, I have food down all the time but he's picky and I usually have to prepare him something special daily. He will nibble on the hard food here and there. I can't see how his belly was empty. He's never ever had a sugar issue. As for getting into anything otuside. This is definately not possible. My babies are never ever left alone and honestly they won't venture off without me. I appreciate you trying to help me. I looked online about seizures and I truly believe that he had one. There are numerous types but he fit this one perfectly. Perhaps his old age is causing this. He is going to the vet this week, so hopefully they can give me something to have on hand incase this would happen again and not stop. Thank you for taking the time to help me. I appreciate it so much.

Hi Sarah, thanks for replying and thinking of my baby boy. Snoot is completely himself still and I sure hope nothing bad likes this happens ever again. This happened Sunday and I called the vet's office Monday but my regular vet was not in. I called back this morning and was told that even if bloodwork was done, nothing would likely show up since it didn't just happen. Regardless, Snoot is going in and having bloodwork done to compare with his other charts. Since he's gotten older we have bloodwork done twice a year to make sure nothing is going wrong. He's been completely fine and my vet has always been amazed on how healthy he is for his age. His results are always like a very healthy puppy, so this is just sooo shocking. We are basically just watching him very closely and will be keeping a journal of anything odd going on. I'll give you an update once he has the bloodwork done. Thanks so much for taking the time to check on him.
