Earlier today , around 4pm., I let the girls out in our fenced in area to potty. I heard all this crazy barking going on (which they do all the time so I didn't run out there too quick)

When I went out, Macey and Molly were going crazy barking and looking in one direction. I walked closer to see and there was a HUGE gardener sanke there, kinda in a sitting up position.

I herded everyone back into the house real quick. Went back out and tried to scare this thing away. I got it out of the fence by it kept trying to come back in and then ended up going out by my Koi pond. It didn't try to lunge at me , it was scared of me and went away from me.

I know they aren't poisonus but do they have teeth???

I just noticed tonight on Molly's nose she has what looks like a bite. Like a "L" shaped tear in her nose! I mean ANYTHING could have happened, but the 1st thing I though of was that damn snake!!!

Do you think????!!!!

She's acting perfectly fine and showing no signs of any distress, but I know nothing about snakes and if a Gardner snake bites!!!!

I think all snakes bite, but i know that ones not poisonous. i think the only way the baby could be hurt is if it got infected bc the snake could have bacteria in its mouth. so keep an eye on it...keep it clean...and call your vet in the morning.....

Awwwww...poor baby

I hope the meanie snake didnt bite her. I don't know much about snake bites to offer advice but I hope the little nick in her nose gets better soon...

Wow, that's scary! I Googled around a little bit and found something that says garter snakes can bite and cause blood. They are not poisonous. Sounds like Molly actually got lucky if all she has to show for it is a little scratch. Thank goodness.

If it was poisonous, she would definitely be in trouble in a short time. Like the others said, keep an eye on it. Maybe peroxide? You could call the vet and see what he suggests. Poor baby!

I am so very sorry that Molly the sanke hunter got bit. Sending her cute little nose some major hugs

Puncture wounds are always problematic. Carefully clean the area and use an antibiotic cream. If her nose starts to feel warm, it might be prudent to take her to the vetl

Non-poisonous snake bites are generally shaped like a horse shoe. Sounds like it could have barely got her. Wow, Molly you sure are brave, you didn't even back down after that....

Oh, you've had too much trauma this week. First Brodie and now Molly.
I hope her little nose is ok. I didn't know that they would strike.

Well I've been watching her and its clean and looks good and she's acting very normal. The snake was HUGE ! If I put my thumb and middle finger together in a circle thats how huge the body was.

I've had gardner snakes snap at me before. I just don't know if they have teeth. And I didn't actually see it strike her but I don't know what else it could be???

AW poor little girl. Mean ol snake. Strange shape for a snake bit isn't it? I wonder if it will leave a scar now. Kisses for the "boo-boo"!

I think it looks like a non-poisonous snake bite. The non-poisonous snakes have little teethe and not fangs. So there will not be two puncture sites made with fangs, there will be a horseshoe like mark like the shape of their mouth. It might not be a snake bite but it is really weird that you seen a snake and now she has a place on her nose that resembles a snake bite.

wow i hope she didnt get bit! that is kinda a weird shape.. if she was bitten wouldnt it be an open wound? if shes not acting strange then she should be okay! we have snakes around here too... now i have to keep a closer watch because princess will attack anything!

Just keep it clean--maybe put alittle proxcide on it and let it dry and then some antibotics. Just keep and eye out in the yard. sometimes, there is a food source that the snakes are coming to get. Do you have any ground moles or squirrels,gold fish in ponds ect... The pond alone could be attracting them to water source?? These are all just suggestions. They do have ridges top and bottom which look like tiny litte needles all the way around. No fangs. Enough-- bite. GOOD LUCK GIVE THE BABY KISSES
