| Help Asap..tyson Ok.......so Far.. Just this minute the vet called and said Tyson is out of surgery and OK. I am sure OK in there eyes but not mine.........He will not be fine until he is home with me and dad but anyways..........the nurse gave a bit of aftercare info, will get more when I pick him up, am allowed to pick him up at 5pm, but anyways.........she said he had to have the "collar" on for 10 days...........I hope they are sending medication for me to because how in the world am I going to have him in that thing for 10 days....I know after the first day it might get easier, but I know my pup and I have a pretty good feeling this is not gonna be a easy thing thats we are all going to just get used to.............So I have come to where the experts habg out...any suggestions from moms.................I know I cant keep it really covered up a lot, due to infection, I am a human nurse, but as far as I am concerned......I leave it to the animal nurses to tell me what to do...............Please telll me anything and everything I can do for him to make all this as easy as possible for him........We will do anything..................thanks all................CHRISTINE and TJ |

| I used a baby onies for Peanut after he was neutered. The night he came home all he wanted to do was lick, the onies was so much better than a coller and the vet tech told me to use them. After the first night he didn't seem to both to much. Good luck |

| Prayers for your little Tyson. I used onies on my girls also. They didn't like the collar. The meds helped them sleep & keep from playing so much. I also put a blow up bed on the floor & slept with them for a few nights for comfort. I brought my girls home the same day also, since no one was there to watch them overnight I wanted them home with me. Also I was told no bathing until the stitches came out. Piper had disolvable ones so it was about 2 weeks before bathing. They seemed fine in a couple of days, but I know they couldn't tell me if they were in pain. So I kept the meds up for about a week. |

| Thanks so much for all the info and sorry for the urgency, I have heard about putting the onzesy on them, and when I said it to the pup nurse she was kinda taken back. I feel its because she has never heard of it, but I look at it this way, she works at a vet, she deals with all pups and you guys on here deal a lot with yorkies and I think that if you guys have actually done and have seen it work with your pups then it would work for my pup. Me and my fiance are home most of the time so we will be able to keep a good eye on him, so do I buy the onezy by weight or how do I size it? I am going to pick him up in about 2hours and I want to have one here when he gets here, so thanks for all the info ASAP. When will he most likely want to eat? And what is a good maybe kinda post op dinner? Thanks so much for you guys and this board. I know a lot of other people would just think I was plain crazy, but I just want the best for Ty, I was wreck this AM when I dropped him off just thinking about what he had to go thru, but you guys have made it easier just being able to read about all other pups..........I will update you guys when he is home...thanks |

| Have you picked Ty up yet?? How is he?? I pick up Bella is 30mins....I'm sure it will be the longest 30 ever. I bought newborn onsies because she is only 4lbs. They fit her good, if he is bigger probably the 3mo old ones. Wishing you luck...and keep in touch

| Muffin is 6.5 pounds & I bought the "newborn" onesies for her...she just had her second major surgery. They really are a good alternative if your furbaby is like mine & hates the E-collar! It is incredibly important to keep them away from the stitches. They itch, scratch & irritate them, but they need to leave them alone. I'm putting a Onesie on Muffin overnight & leaving them off during the day when I can keep a close eye on her. You'll sort of figure out a routine as it goes along. More than likely it will be more upsetting for you than it is for them! Muffin acts like nothing has happened & can't figure out why I'm following her around everywhere! Please let us know how it's going! CJ

| You'll be shocked at how quickly they bounce back. The biggest problem you're going to have isn't them being tired or sick from the surgery but keeping them quiet for the several days after. My pups came home..slept great with some pain meds that night and it was business as usual the next morning. I'm sure he's going to be fine and you'll feel so much better once you see him back to his oldself in no time at all! Good Luck! Last edited by winnismom; 01-17-2007 at 04:43 PM. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | The onsie worked out great for Cali. I got her the premie size from Walmart and they were so soft and about 4.00. Good luck.

| Chewy was 4 pounds and the neck was too big for him on the oneies... So I used the collar. he was fine with it... I connected it with his collar so it couldn't come off... I took it off for eatting though. I also have a water bottle hooked to his crate and could drink even with the collar any time he wanted. Also the meds were liquid and tasted horrible. He would not take them. So i injected little peices of bread and then spread some chicken baby food on top... he loved it and it was like a great snack! Chewy slept with us but he was sore so we put his dog bed on our bed in between us and he slept with us in his bed. it worked out really well. BEst of luck and God bless....

| Maybe I have a "special" yorkie..........1st and foremost Ty is OK.. .....SOOOOOOOOO....in we go 30min early and stand there in a line, out comes the vet nurse, she sees us and goes and gets Ty and out he comes and he looks like he has been out at a all night party...........poor little eyes just glazed over, but his tail just a waggin, but has that stare like hes looking right threw you, dad held him and the nurse started with this colllar that Tyson wanted nothing to do with so we took it got his meds and off to the house we go. Now this is where the special comes in, it has taken me so long to write on here because we were home maybe 30min with a post op puppy and now for the past 4 hours me and my fiance have been trying to settle him down and get him to stop acting like the puppy he is. We gave him his pain meds, he sat down for maybe 10min, I keep checking to make sure they cut what they wee supposed to and not just his nails....... , sue enough we see a few stitches, I even enlarged the picture of Bella and showed him this is how he should............RESTING......I just ran to Walmart and got him his outfit and 40$ worth of toys and treats, he has not messed with his stitches once, but I want to put it on him when we go to bed.........if he will ever lay down.........he has used doggies stairs for the couch and bed ALWAYS.........but of course today he feels the need to hurdle the stairs to get to the couch, so my fiance has turned the couch on its side and we are sitting on the floor............I am sure its a boy thing but my fiance is just in amazement that dog or not he is in such good spirits after whatthey just did ti him.........Tyson is now digging to what seems like China to hide his new toy and it is after midnight here.......He ate a bit of food about 4hours ago since he was at his bowl crying and he still wants more, but I will save you the details of what I just just came shooting....AND I DO MEAN shooting out of his bottom......and I have to go because my potty trained baby just went over and pee peed all over my fiance Spanish 2 folders.......................HELP..........but we love him......... |

| OK, It is almost 1 in the AM and just maybe he is going to settle down, I can tell he is starting to hurt and he just discovered his stitches..........we put his outfit on, and my goodness he is sooooooooooooo cute, we gave him his pain meds when he got home and as you can tell it didnt really do to much, so I just made a nurse/mom call and gave him half of a dose and he is laying next to me for the first time since he has come home, maybe we will get some sleep after all..................fingers crossed...........thanks to all. I will write a follow up tomorrow............Tyson says thanks and sends big hugs to all his furry friends thinking about him today............ |

| I'm glad to hear Tyson is doing so well. I think it might be a little easier on the 'boys'....don't tell your boyfriend I said that...he'll think I'm They said the hardest part would be keeping them from hurting themselves. Just like kids..they never know when to quit. Bella is still resting. She only ate a couple of bites too. Try and get some rest....we'll catch up tomorrow

| Tyson finally setteled down lat night about 2AM, I put his little onesie on and he looked sooooooooo cute, it was navy blue with a little bear on it. I kinda slept with one eye open we all slept out on in the living room with the rest of the house gated off. He seemed to do fine, he woke up and ate just like his routine, and then he got up on the sofa about noon and finally acted like he had a surgery. I gave him his pain med and he slept for a few hours and was off to the races again. He ate more and played, we kept him as quiet as we could, he got up on the sofa about 8 and cried a bit, I gave him some more meds, he played a little more and it is about 11pm here tonight and he is winding down moving place to place trying to get comfortable. Thank you guys for all the get wells, he is a great pup and I am so glad I found a place that thinks there Yories and others are worth the world to.....Good night....Tyson sends hugs to all........lots of yorkie kisses to ...I will work on getting some pics of him on here...........thanks again...CHRISTINE |
