Miss Kimber not feeling well, what should I do? Good afternoon all! This is my first post on this forum, although I have been reading it a lot over the past few months. My 13 week old yorkie (who comes to work with me) just threw up, a little bit - it's a yellow colour, kinda frothy (ew!) Poor girl. She alsowouldn't eat/drink and she's wants to sleep. Then I brought her outside and she played for a bit. Should I be worried or just monitor her to see what happens?!

Do you have Nutrical or Nutristat available? If not, do you have Karo (corn syrup). When they don't eat they can get low blood sugar which makes them sleepy and is a life threatening condition. She needs "sugar" the first thing as soon as possible. Honey will also do in a pinch, but is usually not recommended by most because of the possible bacteria that could be in it. This will also help stimulate her appetite. The yellow frothy vomit is probably acid from having an empty tummy. She needs to eat a minimum of every 8 hours at this age. You might have to spoil her with some baby food pureed chicken or boil up your own skinless chicken and serve with white rice. If she continues to vomit, acts lethargic (they do sleep a lot, but when they are awake they should be full of energy) or has loose stools then you should probably make a vet appointment. You can't be too careful with one this young.

Thanks for the speedy reply! I've read a lot about the nutrical/honey/karo syrup. I will have to run to the store and get some as I do not have any with me She has been doing SO well and ate fine this morning. I let her graze as that is what the breeder/vet told me to do. I have been watching her all day and she hasn't even as usual for the rest of the day. She ate one piece of food from my hand (usually she will keep eating after that)... Thanks for the advice! I hope this will take care of it!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I ope you were able to get her to eat and get some Nutrical, these babies can go down fast. Cali had several of those episodes and I had to get her to the ER vet ASAP. Please let us know how she is doing. Also, at that age I had to feed Cali every 3-4 hours.

Hey all! Sorry so slow on the reply! I gave Kimber some honey and put a dab on her food - she then ate a ton and drank lots! I was so worried about her! Thank you so much for all your advice and help. I only wish my family would realize how serious something like this is. I was in a wedding party on Saturday night and my sister and brother in-law babysat her and I think they thought I was a total psycho for leaving "rules"... I am NEVER leaving her alone with people again. I had a horrible weekend because of it. I think I maye post a VENT thread about people not understand how fragile she is. My mom had all of her sisters/brothers and my cousins over and they treat her like she's a toy. I turn out to be the jerk because I get mad at them. My cousins were trying to get her to jump off the couch (1.5 feet) and from the couch to the coffee table. My aunt held her up at the table and she let her lick her plate that had cake on it. I SNAPPED and then one of my uncle was like "You better not to that" as if I was a total psycho or something! I think I could start a new threat on this one!!!
