Puppy health insurance

Has anybody on here gotten there baby's health insurance and which one is a good one to go with. Any information would greatly be appreciated.

I have heard good and bad things about health insurance. I personally don't have it and am not interested in getting it. I have just heard too many complaints.

If people have the savings and are willing to expend it for sometimes expensive surgeries, then they might not be willing to carry the insurance. However, with some of these tiny yorkies and so many having liver shunts and leg problems, it can't be a bad thing to have. Perhaps you can look over the options VPI at the above link has and see if there are any you would be interested in. It might not be a bad thing for the first year, two, or three for a tiny yorkie.

I just posted a new thread about liver shunts...so it's a common problem? Where can I find info? I am in the process of getting a diagnosis for Henry. Is it too late to get insurance???

I'm afraid it's all too common in yorkies, but not only yorkies.

Are you asking for information on liver shunts? If so, do a search on this site and there is a lot of info to be found. Do you see the "search" button on the blue bar above the threads?

Once your pup is diagnosed with liver shunt, I'm afraid they wouldn't cover it. The secret is to buy the insurance when you first get them. I know. If only we knew these things then.

I'm a firm believer in pet insurance.

I know there's been several threads and posts about "To Get or Not To Get Pet Insurance"

I got a check in the amount of $2,195.71 today form Veterinay Pet Insurance today. The claim I submitted was for $2,855.55.

This was the last claim I filed for the emergency care Jewel received. The bill was big but we would have paid ten times that amount if Jewel would have survived.

For anyone with any doubts GET IT! You never know what type of emergency you and your baby may face. In the year Jewel was sick, we paid close to $10,000 to her various doctors and VPI reimbursed us for about 60% of it. We were fortunate we had her & Jazzie covered. It gave us the financial means to keep her with us a little longer and not have to put her to sleep because we couldn't afford her treatments.
