| Diarrhea and Vomiting Hi I have a 8 month old yorkie named Molly. She has been vomiting and has had diarrhea for the last 3 days now. I brought her over to my boyfriends mom's house and let her run around and she got into some raw corn that had worms in it and she ate some of it. The diarrhea started that night, but wouldn't it of gone away by now if that's what it was? She hasn't been acting any differently, she has the same energy and playfulness she always has had. She has been having problems eating in the past and she is awfully skinny so that is also a worry for me. She always has food and water out but she hardly ever eats or drinks. If someone could give me some advice on what to do until I can get her to a vet, it would be highly appreciated. Thanks! |

| You could give her some pumpkin for the diahrea but with her having it for 3 days straight she really needs to see a vet.

| Hi! I'm new here, and this is my first Yorkie, so I'm really not able to answer your question but... if it were me, I would call any vet and tell them the symptoms, that you are unable to get in right now, and would they be able to give you any suggestions. I don't know all your circumstances - but has Molly been around any other dogs lately? Could she have eaten any poop? Try to do a search on here for "diarrhea & vomiting" .... it's in the rectangle on top of the page... the third one in from the right. Also, I'm fairly certain that you should really try to get some fluids in her... pedialyte or nutrical. Have you tried giving her any boiled chicken, rice, or plain yogurt? I'm really sorry your baby is sick. Please keep checking back here for someone more experienced - they really know what they're talking about - they just aren't on now. Good luck & keep us posted!! Oh and Welcome to YorkieTalk!!!

| you might give her some pedialyte too. If she wont drink it give it in a syringe. You really have to worry about dehydration when they have went that long with diahrea alone. She is also vomiting so shes losing fluids there to.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | you say she ate corn? was it corn still attached to the husk? if so get that baby to the vet right away. dog stomaches cannot digest the husk of the corn and it causes blockages which makes them throw up. please go get an x-ray done just to be sure something is stuck inside....actually an x-ray wouldn't even help because corn wouldn't show up. take her to the vet anyway and have them monitor her. if she starts NOT pooping and just vomiting then its very likely that its an intestinal blockage.

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | I would definately take Molly to a vet to get checked out. What size is Molly, how much does she weigh? You mentioned she is skinny and doesn't eat well. We had an awfull time with Baby Blessing not eating good and she finally is a great eater now. Being small she had a hard time eating the dry food as it seemed to large, have you tried breaking it up for her into smaller bites for her, we finally went ahead and put ours on the Nutro Natural Lamb and Rice SMALL BITES and she took to it real well. Ours had a bit of loose stool this morning and I cooked rice right away and mixed with chicken she is fine now. I sure hope Molly is eating and doing better please come back and update us on what the vet says. Sending hug to Molly and a hurry get over this whatever it is. Patti |

| Don't really know anything about earworms, but if other worms can live and multiply in our dog's intestines, why not earworms? With the way they can devour the silk and kernels I sure wouldn't want any of them inside my dog. I think 3 days is long enough to see if it would clear up on its own, I would take her to a vet. |

| Hi Cindy & welcome to YT. I agree that you need to take Molly to the vet. Dehydration can come on very quickly - one minute they appear fine and the next minute they are not. She is losing fluids with both the vomiting and the diarrhea. Please let us know how Molly is.

| Vomiting and Diarrhea Hi everyone, Molly still isn't well so we are going to take her to the vet when my boyfriend gets off work. I took her out today and she sat there as I was watering the flowers and she was really interested in the hose so I put it down and she just started drinking and drinking. I always leave fresh water down for her so it's weird that she will drink from the hose and not her bowl! Anyways, I took her on a walk after that and she threw up 3 times and went on to throw up a 4th time but nothing came out. If I had a car I would take her right now but I have to wait until 5 pm or so. I gave her some ceasar's puppy food and she ate the whole thing, only because one of my cats was trying to eat it and Molly got jealous and didn't want the cat to have any. She hasn't thrown up the food so that is good. She still has bathroom problems and I will explain so if anyone is reading this I am about to explain something disgusting so if you have a weak stomach dont read this! lol Ok some of the poop is solid and it has this sort of slimy brown ooze all around it. There is also long stringy looking things in her poop, it looks like grass. Actually I think it is grass, but I haven't really seen her eating any so that is weird. Im starting to think maybe she has worms? Well, whatever she has, she is definately going to the vet today! I'll keep in touch to let you know how it went! Thanks so much everyone for the good advice and for caring so much about my little molly! She sends her love! |
