| Maddie Itching At Her Ear Ok, Maddie has been itching at her ears lately about 3 days, didnt call the vet cause I knew she was going today to get last shots, rabies, kennel cough, etc. He checked her ears and say they were nice and clean and no infection. Any idea what it could be or why she is doing it??? She doesnt have fleas. Is on flea med. advantage - What could it be. |

| Got me! They haven't gotten a little sunburned, have they? Try rubbing them both at the bottom in a massaging manner between your thumb and forefinger a few times a day to see if that gives her any relief. I do that with Kacee and did with Muffin. Their ears can just itch, I suppose.

| I'm the "allergy" girl today since it's all i've talked about at home and on YT, but maybe it's allergies? If the vet didn't see anything I wouldn't be worried though. |

| Lexie has been doing the same thing, she scratches till she makes a sore, I took her also to the vet and he told me only thing he could figure out was she had allergies, we don't know what kind but she does it for a couple of days and then fine, 4 or 5 days later she starts again...so she has been on benadryl when she starts, its help some, but she has been on frontline plus since I have had her, no fleas, or any bumps just itches...I change her food and everything if you figure out why Maddie is itching please let me know, I can't figure this darn thing out...

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali is 13 months and has always scratched by her ears and face. The vet said to give her benadryl which didn't seem to help. She is constantly getting mats because of this.

| Denise, she could be teething some. That would make her want to scratch her ears.

| Denise- There is another posted thread right now about plucking ear hairs from the ear canal to avoid the scratching. Don't know if you do this (sounds kind-of painful to me) but thought I'd pass it along.

That's what I was going to suggest, dogs itch their ears when they have allergies so that's probably it. Also, you can get some ear drops from your vet if it is allergies. Gizmo has really bad allergies, and the eardrops help a lot. | |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | does she wear a collar, bow, or harness all day long? alot of times people would come to the vets office saying their puppy was constantly scratching the ears when in fact they were scratching at the collar they had on.

| The groomer removes the hair from her ears every 4 weeks. She doesnt wear a collar in the house. I'll have to ask about ear drops. She is not doing it all the time, but Parker never really itched. So its something new. I might wait another week and have them ck it again. She will also take her head and rub her head on the floor. We use to have a cocker spaniel and this is what she did everytime she had an ear infection. |

| Punkin was doing that - when I peeked in her ears they were GROSS. The vet said it was either ear mites or some sort of irritant (water etc) that got in her ear and over a long time caused a yeast infection. They ended up keeping her all day on Friday so they could sedate her and clean them out. I know this probably isn't what your baby has - but thought it would be a good time to remind people to peek in their baby's ears more often. I wish I had, I probably could have caught it alot sooner.
