| I was so scared!!! As I was writing my last post about Sadie getting away from me a couple of times this weekend, she walks up to me & wanted me to pick her up. She has had diarrhea a couple of times today & I decided to watch it & if it changed or didn't stop, then I would call the vet in the morning. So when I picked her up, I turned around & looked in the kitchen & there was a huge puddle of something. I turned on the light & she had had diarrhea again but this time there was more BLOOD than poo. OMG, I was so scared. So I called the emergency vet & they said to bring her in. So off we go at 9:00 at night to the vet. We just got home a few minutes ago. They said that she has colitis. She got an antibiotic shot, and I've got an antibiotic to give her. They also gave us a couple of cans of a food that is high in fiber. They want me to bring in a fecal sample tomorrow. They want to make sure that it isn't a worm/parasite. For now, he is treating it as if it is just a bacteria, but if it turns out to be something else, she'll get an additional med to go with the one we've already got. I was completely freaking out on the drive over there. There was so much blood. It was terrifying. So now I'm praying that she's ok & it looks like she will be, just got to get the meds down & let them do their job.

| No wonder you were scared seeing blood like that. You did the right thing getting her to the vet fast. It sounds like she can be treated and will be fine over time. She must be weak and you must be exhausted. *hugs*

| How scary for you! Scout had a intense situation like that a while back-he had an Ileus (a part of the intestine was paralyzed due to either a bacterial infection or eating grass). It is so scary when the Vet seems really concerned. The antibiotic will hopefully do the trick! Make sure he's drinking enough, if he's not, take him back to the vet!

| I gave her the food from the vet this morning & she gobbled it up FAST. She was hungry because she didn't eat more than a couple of bites yesterday. She kept going over to her bowl to see if there was any more there. Poor thing. She did drink a lot last night after we got home from the vet, so I was glad of that because she won't get dehydrated. I wish I didn't have to be at work today...I'd rather stay home & baby her.

| Poor Sadie. I hope she is on the mend and quickly. I know how worrisome it is when our babies get sick. Take care and let us know how she's doing. Karen

| Sadie is feeling great. I collected the "sample" Monday after work & took it in to the vets office. So hopefully they ran the test yesterday & I'll hear something today. Sadie is LOVING the food they gave her. You'd think it was gourmet. I'm mixing it with her regular food, though...I don't want her to get used to it. She's NOT liking having to take the medicine, though. It's Amoxicillin, which is funny because that's the same thing I always took as a kid. She's had it before & while she was taking it, we were at my parents house for a couple of days. When I told my brother that she was taking the "pink medicine" as he used to call it, he made a special trip over to my parents house so he could open the bottle & smell it. It made me laugh because it took us both down memory lane. But back to Sadie.....I'll post another update when I hear something from the vet.

| Glad she's feeling better. Isn't if funny that the Amoxil is the same pink stuff we used to take? LOL Baby actually liked it. It was another medicine called Clavimox (sp?) that she HATED!!!!!!!!!
