| Peach was attacked I did all my research, read a million books and have done everything “right” since I got Peach. I don’t want her to be super dog...I just want her to be able to be around ALL people and ALL animals and not be aggressive or shy...basically I wanted her to be a nice, well mannered dog. Well on Saturday all that went out the window! My best friend brought her dog, Aggie over, who is a great dog...with people... but apparently NOT with other dogs. I have never had a problem with her and our Bulldog, but our bulldog just ignores her and sleeps when she is visiting...and I guess you could say he has doggie manners, you know doesn’t bother Aggie when she is drinking, eating, playing... whatever. Peach is a puppy, so she doesn’t yet have those manners. Anyway everything was going fine then my friend throws a ball, well, Peach ran after it I guess Aggie didn’t like that so she attacked her. Peach screamed, my friend was standing right there so she could pull them apart but not before she dislocated her Jaw (Peach) and cut on her face, the vet also thinks she may have lost a tooth in the attack. I understand that things happen and I know Peach will heal physically, but I am so upset about the apparent “mental” repercussions this is causing. First it took her a few hours before she would even let me touch her, she just wanted to cry in a corner by herself. AND CRY LOUD. Then yesterday, I thought she was doing better, she was acting fine – like nothing happened...but last night I took her to her second puppy class. (first one was last Monday – before the attack) Well the “happy-go-lucky-Princess-Peach” sat either in the corner or behind my legs and cried the whole class, AND the worst part is when another puppy came close she went nuts – showing teeth, growling and barking. The trainer is optimistic and seams to think that she will get over it, she wants me to bring her back today and Friday... but I feel like all that work socializing her I did is gone out the window. So I guess I am asking...has anyone ever had a pup get over a trauma like this? Thanks for the help, and sorry it was so long...

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | OH NO ! OMG she's so lucky she wasn't killed.....That is exactly why my girls NEVER get to play with bigger dogs - I'm so scared of that happening.... I hope she starts feeling better - I'm SO SORRY she was hurt so bad. |

| I am so sorry that she was hurt so bad, and I am glad that physically she will heal. I believe dogs are resilient. You can't blame her for being nervous around other dogs now, I am sure you are a little leary too. Just give her time she will come around, but I don't think I would let her around other big dogs much except for her brother the Bulldog. We actually took Georgie to a party on Saturday and some people came with their Labradoodle the people insisted the dog was nice and I said that's fine but I will protect Georgie just in case. Well lo and behold their dog snapped at Georgie because he is like Peach and doesn't always have puppy manners. I told my fiance' that no matter what people say about their dogs they are still dogs and are instinctual (if that's even a word). Again, I am so sorry that you and Peach are going through this, but I think in due time she will be fine.

| I'm so sorry Peach was hurt. Glad to know she is okay. I have no experience with this, but I would think the trainer is probably right. It will just take time for her.

| Gosh, that is frightening. A similar thing happened to Edie, and she ended up with her WHOLE HEAD inside a Scottie's mouth. I am ashamed and embarrassed to admit that Edie learned NOTHING from the incident, however. |

| Thanks everyone for your kind words, I took Peach in this morning just for an hour to the "Doggie Daycare" at the place that her puppy class is and they said she did well. She still will not let another dog come up to her but apparently she would sniff them through the bars of an x-pen...which she wasn't doing last night. So maybe she will get over it...I hope so anyway.

| How awful!! I'm so glad to hear she did well at doggie daycare, she wants to trust & have fun with her friends, so that sounds like a good sign that she'll be back to her old self in no time.

| My sweet little baby During Katrina our home was almost destroyed. So we stayed at my sisters the day after. (We had no power for almost 4 weeks) My sister had a rotwieller (sp) and I had my sweet little yorkie Libby at the time. Somehow in the kaos of no power, no phone, not much food and about 10 people in the same house my little Libby got outside when someone opened the back door. My sisters dog picked her up in her mouth and threw her around. I was screaming and pushing the rot. and eventually she dropped her. AMAZINGLY Libby survived with a broken jaw and a few puncture wounds... I think she mentally recovered but 6 months later she was stolen by a worker fixing our house. I am so glad your baby is ok, she will foget about it in no time!

| Im so sorry to what happened to Peach. I hope she is better physically and mentally soon. Im glad that she seems to be coming around. I don't blame her to be scared. According to Cesar the Dog whisperer dogs sense when we are nervous and will react to it. So when Peach is near to other dogs you need to be assertive so she will feel secure being with you. Hugs to you and Peach. |

| poor baby . . . I probably would be traumatized as well. I hope she will overcome her fears . . . . but do continue the classes so she can continue to be exposed to other breeds. Hugs from my furbabies to your peachy peach. |
