| "Skipping" with Back Leg Sissy occasionally does this little skipping type of motion with her right back leg. She doesn't do it all the time, only when running at a certain pace. She doesn't yelp and the leg only lifts a little. It seriously looks like she is skipping when she does it. When she does, it sometimes repeats over and over and other times is just here and there. She walks just fine. For those of you with luxating patellas, is this a sign of that?? Or is this something else I should have checked out?

| TeeJay does the EXACT same thing. I'm not sure whether or not it's Luxating Patella, but I've already scheduled an appointment for him to see his vet this coming Tuesday to get some X-rays done. He only does it while running and he jumps all over the place without looking like he's in pain. And it's exactly the way you described it, it just looks like he's skipping. I am praying it's not a luxating patella, but we'll see. I wish the appointment was for right now! |

| Zoe started to limp and I already took him to 2 vets. they both said it was luxating patella but One said that surgery is the only choice, the onther told me to rest him a few days and then see. Good luck but not to scare you, it does sound like LP. Go the the vet and let me know. I am worried to death.

| Hello! I have been posting a thread about the same thing LP and that skipping that you speak of is one of the signs of LP. My Lea hops like a bunny and doesn't put much weight on her left foot. She's going to the ortho surgeon this week so we can figure out what needs to be done. I would suggest you go to the vet when you can. Depending on how old your pup is (older can be more arthritic) and the degree of the LP will depend on if surgery is needed. Kepp us posted, and I don't know if this is any comfort, but apparently LP is really common in the breed, so I'm sure you can find a great surgeon if it's necessary.

| Sissy is 10 months old. If I take her to the vet and it is LP, knowing that LP is hereditary, obviously I will call her breeder to let her know cause her parents just had a new litter of puppies. My breeding contract is for one year and includes genetic issues, but she is my baby and I would NEVER return her regardless of what might be wrong just to get another puppy. What then?

| Chloe does the same kind of thing. Are you positive your baby didn't pick up some fleas outside, because with Chloe the vet said it was when she was getting bit by a flea and running that she had that reaction, just like if we were running and got stung by a bee we'd go ouch and walk a little funny for a minute. She had a whooping 2 fleas but they caused her a considerable amount of disturbance... yay frontline!! Hope it is something that silly and simplefor your baby too, I know it is easy to worry and worry and worry these little ones steal our hearts so easily! |

| Good luck with everything! I'm surprised that your breeder didn't offer to pay for the surgery. Did you receive a warrenty when you purchased her? I think some breeders would cover problems such as LP if they're caught within the first year that you have your new pup. I just got my girl in with an ortho surgeon. I swear, she has more specialists than I do!

I guess I can't discount anything, but she does this regularly, always on the right leg and only when doing her little trot-type running. She has an appointment with the vet on Friday, so I'll let you all know what we find out.
