| Big Paw!! Yup that's Jazzy's new nickname. I posted a thread about her having this red swollen paw maybe two weeks ago. Well since then I've taken her to the Vet and she thought it was really strange because her big swollen red paw does not hurt her one bit. She runs and plays around on it like nothing. The Vet gave me some antibotics thinking maybe it was an infection and also gave me some greasy stuff to put on her paw. Wellllllllll..it's been a week and Jazzy still has a Big Red Paw. Nothing has changed. Called the Vet and they want me to bring her back in so they can run some test. I hope it isnt' really anything serious because my pockets can't stand for it. I've attached a picture so everyone can see what Big Paw's Paw looks like. Has anyone ever delt with something like this before or know anyone that has. I'm sure my yorkie is not the only one that's ever gotten a big paw. We joke about it now but I really hope it's nothing serious. |

| Hmmmm..... it does look swollen. And none of the other paws are like that? It is strange. I have a little girl now..... TingTing... and she has HUGE paws for a little baby yorkie! But it's ALL 4 BIG paws. But it doesn't look swollen. I don't know what to tell ya...... I would think since you already brought her to the vet and she is not in pain that you should not be concerned. I would keep an eye on it and maybe rub that foot regularly... to circulate it. Maybe it's retaining water. Good Luck! |

Ok my BF just called me and the Vet said it's really strange he hasn't seen anything like it but he said he thinks is a fungus. I'm like fungus. A swollen paw a fungus. So he gave us some more medication. This one her paw has to soak for 10 minutes a day then we adminster the cream. If that doesn't work he said he's gonna refer us to a dermetologist. I said they have doggie dermetologist..lol But yeah that's the deal with that. So I'll guess I'll give everyone an update on BIG PAW in about a week or so. Vet said don't worry about because it's not life threating. That's wonderful and that's all that matters!

| LOL..... I just took my MeeMee to a optomoligist! No kidding.... my girls has these really bad teary eyes and my vet had to write me a referral to an eye specialist! Do you know vets and specialist for animals make WAY more money than out doctors of humans! I'm not kidding...... it's true. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Pom has one paw like that but it's vecause she keeps licking it. I have pads to wipe her pawss with and a cream called Animax which helps keep it under control. But her's isn't quite as puffy. Have they xrayed it to see if something is in there? Just a thought.

I would suppose so since people are usually paying upfront. With regular doctors most of the time they have to wait until your insurance comany dishes out the dough.

| I really doubt that vet specialists make more than our specialists. I've worked in the medical profession for more than 35 years and am well aware of medical costs. I can assure you though that it costs a vet nearly as much to admistered care to our animals as it does our doctors to take care of us. They have the same expenses - offices, lights, electricity, employees, technicians, x-ray machines, other equipment and medical tools, maintenance, malpractice insurance, medical fees, licenses, dues, etc. etc. I find vet costs to be less than what our doctors charge, but not as much less as most of us wish they were. My pup had a torn cruciate ligament repair (surgery). It cost $850. It would cost several thousand for a person. Another dog went to the ER vet - had a lot of medical care and stayed overnight. Cost $450. If it had been one of us who went to the ER with this same problem, we would have been hospitalized and our bill would probably have been $6000 to $8000 - easily more. Vet bills are high.... but sometimes, our little guys have very serious problems....... Carol Jean |

| When I first seen this post and a pic, I thought it may have been a bee sting. We had a cocker whos foot looked like that after stepping on a bee. But since your babys foot has been like that awhile thats probably not it,unless it could be an allergic reaction. Shes very cute, and I hope it all works out for ya!
