| ![]() How long after Reggie was sick with dry heaves and has been on a bland diet today should I expect him to poop? He went yesterday afternoon but we didn't feed him anything yesterday per the vets advice and today he has been very hungry. We fed him some, but no poop yet? Should I give him something? How many days is ok before I need to worry? Thank you from a new Yorkie Mom!! ![]() |

| ![]() I wouldn't worry about it tonight. I would give him a chance to poop tomorrow. Mine was just on a bland diet and didn't poop for 48 hrs. and then only one time in another 24 hour period. The vet told me it was normal until back on a regular diet and feeding schedule. Jessica |

| ![]() Hello, I know this is an old thread but I did a search and this is what popped up. Lily was in urgent care monday (Labor Day) after vomiting/regurgitating for 6+ hours, hourly. The vet said she could have eaten something, perhaps have an infection or bug or that she could have a blockage. They gave her anti-nausea (Famotidine) and anti-vomiting (Cerenia) and a pain med at the vet along with instructions to continue the Famotidine and Cerenia. Her spirits are terrific, she's out chasing crows and wanting attention. She does have an appetite and has been eating (per the vet) a bland diet of boiled chicken and a little boiled potato. She's 10lbs and yesterday I gave her 3 TBS morning and night of this mixture. I was really hoping she would poop this morning but she hasn't. She has pooped twice in the past 36 hours or so, both very loose/unformed and not very much. I elected not to do X-Rays but to watch her to see how she was doing and see if everything passed through okay after the vomiting stopped (since we didn't know what happened). Her spirits were good at the vet and she agreed with me. Here's my question to you: How long should I wait before heading back to the vet for X-Rays? Her abdomen seems normal, there are a few "firm" spots but I am pretty sure I have felt those before but expected they were stool - I don't know, I'm just guessing! She has an appetite (she's asking for food right now) I wasn't going to give her anything until something came out but I am going to give her the same as yesterday. Another question, how long should I wait to start introducing her regular diet back in (slowly of course). Perhaps that would help her have a normal stool. I don't want to force anything on her of course but I can tell she's hungry. I'm just waiting for that poop!!! Any advice or suggestions appreciated. Thank you YT family!

| ![]() My vet has said that after a tummy upset, limited food and a bland diet we shouldn't panic until 72 hours have passed without stool. If she went yesterday I wouldn't worry. Diana and Scooby |

I'm going to feed her a little more kibble than she had for breakfast yesterday. She doesn't appear to be in any pain, I'm hoping she just doesn't have enough to go and isn't terribly constipated. Since she had the first 1 TBS of kibble, it has almost just now been 24 hours and that is apparently how fast they can digest kibble. Hopefully, fingers crossed, she goes today. Oh how I will do the happy poopie dance! I appreciate your help. Thanks very much!

| ![]() I agree. Teddy had a bout of diarrhea last week. It took a couple days for his system to fill back up and for him to produce anything. I wouldn't give anything to try to hurry things along or you will end up with loose stool again. If she has energy, exercise is also helpful.

| ![]() Lily's mom, if she still hasn't gone much, you can try a little canned pumpkin (not the pumpkin pie filling) as that might add some bulk and get things moving again. Does she seem comfortable in her belly? If she's not eating much, there isn't much to make poopies with. Diana and Scooby |
