| Sick 9 Wk puppy My new puppy, I picked her up 2 weeks ago, has had diarreha for the past couple days. She also is throwing up/gaging up a small amount and seems to have lost her apetite. My husband just called and said she was eating from his hand and drank some water this morning. I had been feeding her very small bites of Bil Jack treats and she had been chewing on a raw hide. I have stopped with the bil jack's thinking that was the problem, but she has the same symptoms. Is it the raw hide? My husband and I have been sick too, so wondering if she has picked something up. When do I go to the vet? I am a worry wart, and am worried about my little darling. Any help would be appreciated. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I would get her to the vet. These little ones can dehydrate quickly and if she's not eating good, can result in hypoglycemia.

| Hi and welcome to YT. I'm sorry that your baby isn't feeling well. I would get her to the vet ASAP before she gets any worse. As far as raw hide goes, I would NOT feed this to her. Raw hide is not 100% digestable and can cause serious problems. I have a friend who lost her German Shepherd (big dog) because he ate raw hide a lot and it never digested and basicaly clogged him up inside. The poor dog sadly died during the operation to remove the mass of raw hide. Please keep us updated on your little ones recovery.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I agree with Kimberley - IF I were seeing this go on for more than 24 hours - I would go to the vet too as your puppy is very young. it's better to be safe than sorry ... Good luck ! |

| I am sure you have taken her to the vet so I will just add that no rawhide for these babies. They can become VERY ill with them. And as for BilJac treats. I use them but only after the dog is many months old. I don't encourage many treats-they can cause dogs to be overweight..Empty calories. Try a few pieces of a different food..Minelove Iams daily dental mini-chunks. I do not use it as a food but that is their treats and they are none the wiser. The treat is they are being handfed a goodie.. Your puppy is too young for rawhide and any of the other skin treats. They get diarrhea easily and go down quickly.. |

| There are many parasites that can do this to your baby at this young age. You need to have your pup evaluated by a vet. If they don't do a fecal, demand one (but I would think they would automatically do one). Your pup is too young to allow to go on with this condition without putting it in check. See your vet as soon as possible. Lisa

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali started with diahhrea and vomiting Thursday at 1:30 am after 5 times I took her into the ER vet at 6:00 that morning. Cali is 7 months old but I always err on the side of caution and take her in when she is sick. They can go down hill so quick. I am waiting for results on a Bile acid test. Other than that they couldn't find anything wrong in her bloodwork or stool sample. They did put her on an antibiotic and a wormer and she is doing better so I would definately get her checked out. Good luck. Please let us know how she is doing.

| So sorry your little one is sick! I agree with everyone else, she needs to see her vet. I am a worrywart with our Toto too ... but after one dehydration, I call my vet if she even looks like she has a "bad hair" day! We don't give her any rawhide, but do give her a Special K cereal flake for a treat. They are made from rice & she loves them!! Good luck & please let us know how your little one is doing!
