Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | PLEASE READ Especially NEW PUPPY Parents This is NOT meant to anyone in particular - it's only because I had an experience with Chanel a long time ago - and have seen a few posts lately about puppies ingesting human medications..... This is just a warning to EVERYONE about leaving medication in reach of a puppy - Remember - they don't know what they can eat and what will kill them and EVERYONE should puppy-proof your house - This includes your PURSE - a friend lost her yorkie after he got in her purse and ate her Birth Control Pills - We ALL HAVE TO BE VERY AWARE OF the Medications in our house and keep them up high... just like we would a REAL baby. I would advise we ALL take a look around our house and make sure nothing can be reached by a yorkie. Accidents can happen in the blink of an eye.....

| Sometimes the little things slip past our minds, but reminders like this help us remember! It would be horrible to lose a furbaby because we weren't thinking about it.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I agree...and why I added about our PURSES too - I just found Tylenol in the bottom of mine and had no idea it was there - When the girls go digging in my purse after I snag a treat from somewhere - I always let them get it themselves....probably a bad thing to do - but they enjoy tracking down their surprise so much it's hard to not let them. |

| Yes, this is so true. I haven't had any mishaps with KimMee but I have with my daughter's Yorkie- Eddie. He has gotten in my purse twice- Thank God it was just cough drops!!!!! But it took me twice to learn-don't leave my purse in Eddie's world. Thanks for the reminder Villette, I know new puppy owners propably wouldn't think about this. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Thanks you guys - and funny Dwana - "Eddies World" - I like that !! A while someone on (a different site) kept her Birth Control Pills in her purse - her little yorkie got into the package and ate a few pills and hemmoraged from every orafice.....It was so bad he had to be euthanized....it was just HORRIBLE Many young women keep Birth Control within easy reach ...like in their Purses or on a Coffee table - this will be FATAL if a dog got into them !! |

| That makes me think... what if I take my dog to a friends house? I have plenty of girlfriends who would let their BCPs sit anywhere. Like I said, it would just be really unfortunate to have a dog die when it could have been prevented (BOY do I know the feeling.)

| Greast reminder, Villette! When our granddaughter comes over with her kids (the skin kind) I am always picking up purses, diaper bags, etc. etc. and putting them up high so the dogs can't get into them. They don't have any pets (except for a hamster) and are not used to being around them, so they put EVERYTHING on the floor! |

Amanda....After reading about that poor yorkie that died ingesting BC Pills....... I would suggest you ask your friends to put that stuff up - it's deadly..... You brought up a GREAT Point about other peoples homes though ...it sure would be a good idea to check with your friends or family to see if all their medication is way out of reach. | |

| Some good points raised here I think. Especailly regarding other people houses. Smudger will eat anything he finds on the floor. Unfortuantely we have nothing in our house, no pain killers, no birth control pills.......... I say UNfortuantely because I have a really bad stomach ache and can't be bothered going to the shop

| Great reminder, I remember having a fit after I dropped a pill that I was going to take and could not find it. I put Crystal on the bed because it was no where to be found. After a half hour I got a broom and went under my frig and there it was stuck to my broom.

| Can't belive I didn't bring this up in my previous post There is a yorkie which lives across the road from my mum and she got hold of her owners medication after she had an operaton, I'm not sure how many she ate but she was very very sick. She was at the vets for 2 weeks and had to have a blood transfusion. Milly (the yorkie) also couldn't walk for many months afterwards for some reason. Luckily she suvived, but the lady didn't have pet insurance and the bill was £2,000. I'm sure she learnt her lesson
