My baby boy was squinting when I came home Tuesday. I thought maybe he had gotten stung by a bug. I checked him all over. He was a bit better Wednesday morning, but when I came home Wednesday, it was clear that he wasn't. He is acting sickly and closes his left eye. His eye is 90% cloudy. He went to the vet this morning and we were told he may have glaucoma or his lens has slipped. He has eye drops and a return visit Saturday. We were referred to a doggie eye doctor in Jacksonville. We travel next week to see him. Has anyone ever heard of this? What I'm reading is not good. Any advice? I just lost my little girl, now my little boy is going blind!

He is four years old, parti yorkie and 3.5lbs.

Normally when the lens slips it covers the eye drainage and the eye normally would swell. Hopefully whatever it is, is fixable. There are blind dogs that do very well though.

It now has affected his other eye. I do not believe he can see. I was giving my other baby her allergy meds in a piece of bread and he was waiting for his share. He could not tell I was moving it around his head. He is so young. How could this happen? My grandmother had a blind dog that lived for years. I understand they adapt. He is just so young. He has lost weight and is now just under 3 pounds. He sees the vet again tomorrow, but I am so anxious to see the specialist Monday.

Just back from the specialist, as my baby sleeps in my lap. Both lens have slipped and he will most likely get glaucoma, may have to have the lens removed and/or eye removal if it gets too painful. He has eye drops that should help maintain and now it's just a wait-n-see situation. We will monitor his eyes and pain. The doctor stated it gets painful when it moves forward, which is how it started and now it's moved towards the back. It is most likely genetic, so please ensure you check your new baby's parents' health prior to adopting.

Yes, but it doesn't work the same way as in people. If it becomes painful, they will most likely remove the lenses and/or eyes. Glaucoma will come in time. He gets two different eye drops twice a day. It is helping the pain. We see the specialist again this week. Oreo is scared though. I believe he can see some time and others, he is just watching shadows. He has jumped off a chair and didn't judge the distance and hurt himself. I do not have steps to my furniture any more, due to my baby girl Ally having seizures. (RIP baby girl) This three pound baby boy can jump on my furniture. I was washing Tia, when I heard him whimper in the living room. I have no clue what happened, but he was scared. He could have run into a table or something. I watch him closely. He wants to be held constantly, so he is always at my feet. I read a good article that stated I shouldn't move any furniture and use scents to mark things. I need to put a scent where he sleeps, eats, potty pad, etc. I am not sure what scent to use right now, but I want to start it now, rather than afterwards. No more hand signals, and now all voice commands.

If anyone else has any good advice, please let me know. I know he can have a good life. Oreo and I are preparing for what comes next.
