| Loose stool in my 8 year old yorkie Hello, Here is the breakdown of what's going on right now with my yorkie named Mickey. We recently moved into a new home. I was very nervous about this move for little Mickey. He is prone to anxiety and does not do well in new environments. Since he got here last night, he has been anxious and whiny. When my mom is around he's ok. I guess he just doesn't feel safe without her in his sight but it makes me sad, because I'm right there next to him This morning, we both took Mickey out for a walk so that he could do his business. We don't have grass yet, so he has to walk around in the weeds in our unfinished neighborhood. He is peeing just fine. However when he pooped, it was a little loose, and I thought I saw a black patch on it. This made me very nervous. I'm not able to get a photo of the stool because this was over two hours ago and this stool changed color. About 20 minutes ago, I found another loose stool on our new carpet (which is bad!!! If my dad had seen it before I did that would have been bad news). I took it into the bathroom to check it out closely. The "black" patch on his first and second stool is actually a very very dark brown patch. This stool also had a very strong and foul smell. I couldn't take a picture because I didn't have my phone on me, and I didn't want my dad to see his poop sitting on the bathroom counter. I feel like this is diarrhea. Can it be caused by stress and nervousness? Has this happened to anyone else? Here's a better description of his stools: a normal brown color with a dark brown patch on a portion of it. I don't think it's mucous. His stool is loose but still has form. It is not watery. Thank you in advance.. I hope my baby is okay Edit: I forgot to mention his behavior. He is behaving well. He is just anxious when not around my mom. He was never potty trained either, which is why he pooped on the carpet. It happened a lot at our old house. In the new house however my dad would be very mad if he saw it happen.

| I don't like the darker color patch in the stool, that could be blood. Other options are it could be stress in the move, could be anxiety because of your mom not being with him, it could also be the change in the water. This may sound strange but it's a fact. Years back I moved from the city to the country, we had well water in the country, my dog had loose stools. I still worked in the city so I would fill one gallon bottles of city water to take home. Another water story I rescued a 2 1/2 yo little boy 3 years ago, I am in the country, well water, this boy came from the city, he was relayed to Pa. he had loose stools when he drank tap well water, I put him on bottled water and his stools are perfect. I would keep my eye open to see if that dark patch remains in his stool. Sometimes if you feed a dog something he is not use to eating, when he passes it in his stool it is a bit darker then the rest of the stool.

YT 2000 Club Member | Dog I hope you get that taken care of soon. I had my Yorkie with bad loose stools. Had to put him on hills I'd from the vet. Jojo tends to have a sensitive stomach. Little things will scare him. Loose stool in yorkies is not good. Last edited by sandy simpson; 07-06-2017 at 10:24 AM. |

| Best photos I could get of his paws :/ Edit: it won't let me attach the pictures!!! Ugh. Three paws have only tiny burns. The fourth is a little more burned but I wouldn't say it's severe. I wish I could attach these photos so you could see.

How long did you keep your pup out that he has burned pads, test the pavement with the back of your hand, if it's to hot for your hand, it's to hot for a dogs pads. I don't know of a home remedy for burned pads. At this point honey, I would have this dog at the vet. To many things are happening to him to fast. Dehydration in small dogs is very dangerous, he could go down fast. Please get him to the vet ASAP and take a stool sample for the vet to test to make sure there are no parasites.

My mom refuses to take him to the vet or at least call. This is making me kind of mad, I feel like she's just putting it off until something bad happens to Mickey. I feel like I'm the only one worrying about my poor dog. I'll see if I can go to Petsmart or Petco and find Nutri Cal there. And I'll ask my brother to buy some chicken legs and thighs. Thank you so much. I'll keep you updated.

| I am at a loss here, if your pup is as you say, why is your mom not concerned. Is this your baby or your moms. If you make the broth and put just a tablespoon in his water he will drink the water. Please do get the Nutri-Cal, let him lick just a dab from the tip of your finger. As for uploading pictures, the pic has to be 200 KB or less, you may have to resize your pics. Please keep us up dated on lil Mickey.

| Hello! This morning I took little mickey out for his potty and pee break. First he pooed, and I'm happy to say that it had form today! It looked like his normal poop shape, but still was breaking apart as he pooped, however it was definitely not as loose as it was yesterday. The first part of his poop looked dark but not a concerning type of dark. The rest of his poop is light brown. Is that normal? His pee was normal as always. My brother brought straight up broth. I eyeballed it and only put a little in because of the amount of sodium. This got him to drink water a little bit. But I'm so sorry, when I said he was dehydrated, he just wasn't drinking enough water. He was panting for half the day, and he was drinking water and eating and such, just not enough. But the broth did help. My brother also tried to find nutri cal at petsmart. He couldn't find the exact brand but he bought an off brand one which hopefully works. It's the GNC Ultra Mega High Calorie Booster for dogs. I let him lick a few dabs off my finger last night. Mickey is really everyone's baby. My mom is his favorite and I'm a close second. She's very busy with unpacking everything and getting everything situated in the new house, so it's me and my brother trying to help him I feel like if he continues with the loose stool the next time he poops I'm gonna ask my mom to take him to the vet.. if not my brother and I will go. I'm under 18 but I've got a license and I'm not allowed to drive that far just yet, but trust me I would have already taken him to the vet if I could. This is just such a mess He hasn't ate much yet this morning, probably because he had a little too much to eat last night for dinner. Would that explain the light brown colored poop? Thank you everyone for your help. It's nice to talk to people who care just as much as I do.

Poop should be a med. golden brown depending on what kind of kibble he eats, the darker the kibble, the darker the poop. I would measure out Mickey's water to see how much he drinks in a day. Use a measuring cup, give 1/2 a cup of water, when you give fresh water measure what is left in his bowl, this way you can see how much water he drank, this is important to know "if" you have to take him to the vet. It could be all this excitement going on. I read in another thread of yours Mickey was staying somewhere else for a few days while you were packing and moving. So he went from his house to someone else, then came to the new house with all this hustle and bustle going on, then you are stressed out over Mickey and he feeds off everyone's emotions. Try to stay calm for Mickey's sake. I know if you could, you would take Mickey to the vet, mom knows Mickey very well, I am sure if she thought he was in danger she would take him to the vet. Please keep us updated.

Yes, he was staying with someone else while we were moving all of our stuff. He went from there to this new house. It's definitely a huge change for him in such little time. All of the commotion has gone down really, just a one or two people coming in to do all the last minute things everyday. And we are almost done unpacking as well, so hopefully this is the time everyone can finally start calming down. Thanks for all your help, I'll reply with an update asap when Mickey has another bowel movement. So far he's been okay today, nothing unusual. He doesn't have much of an appetite right now but as far as I know he had finished his brunch. Hopefully he eats his dinner before bedtime in a few hours. Edit: about the chicken broth- I told my brother to bring chicken thighs and I told him what I was gonna do with them too. He just said he'll bring broth, and I'm not the kind to argue with him so I just let him. I used as little as I could in his water bowl though.

| Glad that things are settling down in the new house, soon life will be normal. I understand about the canned broth, brother did the best he could. But for the future should Mickey not be drinking enough water keep this little trick tucked away in your memory. It helped my boy out greatly. I am a worry wart when it comes to my babies, I was always dashing off to the vet when I saw my now passed girls not acting themselves, it always turned out to be a serious issue. Thankfully my rescue boy that I have for 3 years is healthy, no anxiety, no separation issues and not a needy boy. Mickey went through a lot of changes in a very short time.

I am happy to say that this morning mickey's poop was completely back to normal. Shape as normal and color was also normal. I am so happy! I will for sure be keeping the boiled chicken broth in my memory!! He is also eating and drinking as he should be. I am so glad. So I guess all of this really was due to the stress of leaving home, going to a babysitters and then coming into a completely new environment. Mickey is starting to find his way around the new house. Usually he'll follow us around and we'll be keeping a close eye on him, but he's wandering off now and we lost him for the first time in the house today, lol. I'm so sorry about the girls you lost, I am sure you gave them such a great life. Thank you for all the help and advice you've given me! You've calmed me down quite a bit and I am very grateful.
