| Very sick girl My computer isn't letting me do a search, and I'm not sure what to ask anyway. I am hoping someone here might have some suggestions, though. My supposedly 14 yo Yorkie female seems very sick. It started a little over a week ago (Tuesday) with her not feeling well (you can tell), then progressed to vomiting and diarrhea on Wednesday. When Pepto didn't help we called the vet and he put her on some pills which she refused to swallow, even to the point of letting them dissolve in her mouth. The diarrhea stopped, but she wasn't able to keep any - or much - food down. Not to get too bogged down in everything we've tried through our vet, she was finally x-rayed last Tuesday (a week after her first symptoms). The vet said her intestine looked swollen, the passage small, and gave her a shot they called a Silver Bullet, combining different drugs for different symptom, and also gave us some liquid medicine. But she's continued to get worse. I'm taking her back in today (Thursday) for blood work. When I had her in with the vet a couple of days ago they mentioned also doing a biopsy for a tumor in the stomach/intestine lining, but said there wasn't much they could do for that. She hasn't had a bowel movement since last Friday, and hasn't eaten anything substantial in almost the same amount of time. She's drinking less the last couple of days. My fear is we're losing her, and I know this is a long shot, but I was hoping someone here might have a suggestion we or our vet haven't thought of. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh gosh, I am so very sorry to hear how sick your little kiddo is! Like you, I'd be very concerned too. So really though - they're still not sure whether or not these symptoms are caused by the intestine issue, for sure...?

| Do you have one of those Vet clinics in your area that have board certified vets? They are usually 24 hour clinics. That is where I would be headed. They have specialists that treat everything, even cancer. Your pup must be miserable. Hope you find help!

| Thank you for your concern, Wylie's Mom and Yorkiemini. The news yesterday was very bad, renal failure. Part of the Silver Bullet shot they gave her on Tuesday contained steroids, which should have helped, but didn't. They gave her another dose yesterday, hoping to provide her with some relief, and for us to have a final night with her. It didn't seem to help much either. We had her put to sleep this morning, and buried her in an established pet cemetery. As I'm sure everyone on this forum knows, it's devastating. Especially how she faded so fast in the last few days. She was an angel. Our first Yorkie, and a senior rescue, but it took no time at all to worm her way into our hearts. So happy and ready to grin, and probably the smartest dog we've ever had. At some point in the future we'll bring another small dog into our home, and it just might be another Yorkie. She made a big impression on us. Again, thank you for your replies, and your concern. And don't forget to kiss your dogs goodnight tonight. |

| Our furbabies are such an important part of our lives that losing them leaves a hole in our soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during these trying times. I will give Max and Sasha 2 kisses each tonight.
