| Rear hind leg limping Hello, I have a wonderful 10 year old yorkie and hes just under 10lbs. His right rear hind leg is limping and we went to the hospital to see what is going on and the doctor said it is most likely the knee. He gave us options on but I am worried of his age. Do you think getting a knee surgery for a ruptured ccl is ok at 10? Thank You d |

| If he is using his leg at all it would be weird to be the ccl but maybe you should get a second opinion from a orthopedic surgeon.

| I just posted in the other post about ruptured ccl in another dog. We have had one knee repaired from a complete tear a few years ago and were told she was high risk for anesthetic to repair a partial tear last year. While they say small dogs can "heal" with rest, I wouldn't choose that option if your vet feels your baby is healthy enough for surgery. Her arthritis is horrible now and she's always stiff and takes joint meds daily and pain meds as needed. She will be 8 next month. So if you use a certified surgeon and he is deemed healthy and fit for surgery, you'd be doing him a huge favour. |
