| If he had the runs for 4 day's, then a Vet visit is most certainly warranted for him.

| Day one of diarrhea I would have had my pup on boiled boneless chicken cutlets and rice, if diarrhea had not stopped by evening that pup would have been at the vets, 4 days of diarrhea!!!! these toy breed babies get dehydrated quickly and can do down fast. PLEASE get your baby to the vet TODAY.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | How old is this kiddo? IF a pup you need a vet NOW. The Pepto will not solve the problem.

| I just came across your other thread Yorkie in need in deed, your pregnant dog got attacked by a Rotti, was limping, and you don't have the money to have a vet look at her. Now you have a male with diarrhea for 4 days and no vet visit. You keep coming to forums for solutions when you should be seeing a vet.

| I don't know what to say except yes, please get your little one to a vet. On top of the dehydration and everything else that comes along with it, blood might start happening, too. I watched my little girl go through it with her last serious bout of gastro. Not to mention how much pain he's in. My goodness! Poor little dude. |

| Please understand that owning a dog requires vet visits. If you can't afford to go to the vet how can you afford to have two Yorkies, Runner and Missee who just gave birth to puppies? If they get sick it's imperative that you have a vet check them out. Especially after 4 days. You never know what kind of bacterial infection he could have gotten. Pepto-Bismol won't help in that case.

| You need to bring him to the vet ASAP. He could get dehydrated and suffer to death. He may have a bug that the vet can treat so easily so please bring him in. Susan |

| Yep definitely go to the vet. My baby had some serious diahrrea issues, and they basically said she had yeast in her colon. (I forget the technical term for it). She went through 2 or 3 rounds of antibiotics for it. Her count is still high, but they decided she was probably a dog born with it. She also had a food change that has helped curb the diahrrea. She will have another checkup this month to check her levels. If the diahrrea comes back again, they will run some additional tests to see if it could be something else. She is also on an antacid to help fight acid that may be keeping her from eating as often as she should. |

| This Is How I Feel I want to thank you all for your concerns. I also would like to say that just because I can't afford a vet doesn't mean I can't take care of my Yorkers. Why do people always think negative in situations like this? I took good care of my Lil Runner. I held him like a baby gave him some Pepto Bismol and feed him water with a syringe to keep him from dehydration. Yes he and Missee are doing just fine. Missee gave birth to 5 puppies, they too are ok and I thank God for without Him and prayer I may not have them at all. I believe all is possible with the help of the Lord. Have some faith and believe and trust in God and He will see you through anything. All you have to do is believe in Him. Thank you all again and God Bless. |

One day, trusting in God isn't going to work for you in terms of saving the life of one of your yorkies. I mean NO disrespect here at all.....I am simply telling you the truth....the same truth that others here told you. A pup with diarrhea for more than a day should be seen by a vet...sometimes sooner than within 24 hours...depending on the amount. You cannot save a sick pup from dehydration by using a dropper. If a pup is THAT sick, that little bit isn't going to work. I will say a prayer for all of these pups who are in your care. You are right...they need God because sadly their owner seems to not want to provide proper care for them. I am not getting into your financial situation..we all have times when things are difficult. This isn't about that. It is about your attitude here. SMH

And just to add to that... Using faith and religion as an excuse not to seek medical help is not right. To make such a presumptuous statement and endanger helpless pups by convincing yourself that you just need to have faith and avoid medical treatment is nothing short of negligence. It is not a lack of morals, not a character flaw, nor is it a lack of faith. Whatever religion you believe in, that God is the one who has gifted humans to be able to perform healing work. | I am just not so sure that this OP is for real...I find it very hard to believe that someone would 1) have a pregnant Yorkie attacked by a Rotti and not immediately take her to the vet, but rather post on a Yorkie Forum; and then 2) have another Yorkie with diarrhea for 4+ days and also only post in a Yorkie Forum and hope that Pepto and prayer would take care of the problem. I'm certainly not trying to be rude, but surely this is someone trying to cause some drama among Yorkie lovers - if not, I really do pray for those poor babies. |
