| When do I know it's time My baby is 17 years old, he has been deteriorating for some time now. He has collapsed trachea, is pot-bellied, has hair loss, skin infections, seizures at least once a week, is disoriented often, blind and this week started urinating large quantities every 20 mins or so while awake (lots of accidents he no longer looks for his pee pad), he sleeps up to 18-20 hours a day....he was tested for Cushings via a urine test and it was ruled out....I honestly at heart believe his quality of life is gone, but don't want to let him go too soon if he's not ready...any and all advice is greatly appreciated. |

| I am so sorry you are facing this difficult decision for your baby boy. I would consider if he is in pain, if he has difficulty breathing, and has lost interest in food. Then I would consult with your vet. 17 years is amazing. You have been blessed. Knowing when to let him go is the hardest part. Wishing you comfort and peace in making the decision.

| I am so sorry. It is so hard to lose our babies. When to let them go is very hard. I agree with what Kristin said...speak with your vet. He definitely has had a very long life. Wishing you peace...
