| PLEASE HELP; Moxie is sick and not getting better Hi guys, I hope all is well. I am very concerned for my little Moxie. On Friday night she started having diarrhea. On Sat and Sun, she threw up and by Sun was having stool that was all water and dark like coffee grounds, with blood. I took her to the ER vet Sunday night and she tested negative for pancreatitus and HGE. They gave her fluids and metronidazole and told me to feed her a bland diet. It's now Thursday and she still hasn't had a solid poop. There was a little bit of bright red in it. Her mood is better, she is less lethargic, not vomiting and does want food, but she is not her usual self, and still has not pooped solid. I called the vet and they said the next steps are send out a stool sample, do x-rays to rule out obstruction, stuff totaling $600 (I paid $400 for the Sun visit). To make matters worse, we are supposed to fly from SF to NYC tomorrow, and I would have to sedate her. I don't know if I should give the metronidazole more time, follow up with the ER vet, follow up with the regular vet (her regular vet is in nyc, but there is one we've seen here), fly back to nyc and see her regular vet, postpone the flight, what to do. I've been given different advice. I am concerned she would have loose bowels on the plane, but more concerned flying would stress her little body when she is already sick. She has an iron clad stomach and has never been sick like this. It is breaking my heart. |

| Praying she makes a complete turn around soon. But if I were you, I would be starting the process of postponing the flight. Willie got very sick about a year ago. It was awful. He went from kind of sick to his stomach to deathly ill within hours. He had similar symptoms. He began with vomiting, then black/coffee ground poop, then bright red drops of blood was all he was pooping. He was lethargic and refusing all food and water. He ended up being on iv for a full day at the vets before he started improving. I'm not trying to scare you, but that incident showed me how quickly these babies can go down. Edited to add: I tried to keep him calm for about a week after he improved. The vet told me that being anxious can bring on more stomach attacks.

| I don't want to scare you either, but my 5 year old had been healthy her whole life, and in a matter of just a couple of months she died. Her's also started with diarrhea. She spent 3 days in ICU at Purdue University, and then at home with us trying everything they said to do. We cancelled a vacation because we didn't want to stress her. I have no idea what I would have done if all this happened while I were away from home. Good luck with your decision, it's so hard to know what to do when they are so little and rely on us to be their voice. |

| Poor Moxie! I remembered that you have posted she had problems in July after eating some food on the ground at the park, and August with vomiting bile -- possibly related to changing back to a food she was on before. It might that these episodes are related and indicate an underlying health issue, or they could be just coincidence. Make sure your vet knows about these episodes. Does she usually get stressed on the plane? I'm guessing your flight is about 6 hours long. That would make me nervous. Praying for your little girl. Please keep us updated.
