11 yr old yorkie not eating Hi Everyone.. question/advise.. My 11 year old (almost 11).. 2.5lb yorkie suddenly stopped eating on Friday .. after she threw up her breakfast.. I can usually get her to react by just asking her.. "are you hungry" and she runs to her plate.. but nothing. Out of desperation sunday I fed her some bread with some chicken broth... and I thought yay.. she's eating and then she threw it all up.. and I haven't been able to get anything into her again for the last 24 hours.. so we are going on 4 days of no eating.. her balance also seems way off.. and her cataracts seem to be releasing some green puce (can't spell lol).. We are going to the vet tonight but was wondering if any of you have ever had this situation happen with your pups... I'm afraid she is suffering and I'm selfishly keeping her because I she is simply myheart, my kid.. any advice would be appreciated.. TIA .. <3

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Glad you're going to the vet bc this baby really does it. Not eating for 1 day is very significant and telling, but 4 days is really a lot. It could be so many things, so I hesitate to even guess. Hope it's not pancreatitis, but I would most certainly rule this out ASAP.

We went to the vet and everything on the outside looked good..she was attentive, happy and he liked that.. he did say that he believes she is partially deaf in one ear.. and completely blind now.. since I never got the cataract surgery done for several reasons.. one of which was financial and the other being she was so tiny and old I couldn't see putting her under anesthesia .. We did a panel of blood and urine and hopefully i'll have an answer by noon today.. Got home and made her some scrambled eggs and she ate like a champ.. (only gave her a little as I was worried she would vomit)... she ate the rest later before bed and then ate her normal food this morning again.. Phew!!! Now fingers crossed that her insides are ok as well.. Thank you for responding!!! I simply adore her... and making decisions regarding her life.. was starting to give me anxiety.. although if she is suffering in any way.. i will rethink this ..

well.. she is has a thyroid issue, a blood infection and UTI... until they get a handle on the blood infection they don't know if there is or possibly be something else going on.. her white blood cell count is high.. but they think its due to the infections.. lawd!!! we are going to try and rid of the infections and get her thyroid under control..

Poor baby, that's a lot for such a tiny little thing. Glad she ate something too as she's so tiny to be going too long without eating. Has you vet ever checked the pressure in her eyes ? as cataracts can lead to glaucoma & that is VERY painful & you mentioned the green goo witch can be a sigh of glaucoma. Praying for a fast & full recovery for your sweet girl.
