| 2 month yorkie old for surgery Hey guys, This is my first post here. I have a yorkie puppy named Taco. He's had some complications and has been unable to pee. After a lot of check ups at the vet, they tried urinary catheterization but was unable to reach the bladder because of some blockades (stones). The only option is surgery. They have been removing urine temporarily using a syringe. The dog weighs about 800 grams. He is only 8 weeks old. I would like some general feedback. (They were supposed to operate today, but i told them to wait till tomorrow) |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | You may already have read up a bit on this but here is a link: Bladder Stones (Urinary Calculi) in Dogs There is sometimes an alternative to surgery and that is the dissolving of the stones, but again your vet needs to assess the urgency of the blockage. He is very very young to have stones. Have you done a BATS test? And or a liver panel profile? Also he should have pre-op blood work. Now I know you are in Bangladesh, and I am assuming this is India, so I really don't know in India what the vet practices are like, but I am hoping they have teaching hospitals and vet specialists there. You need to go to an internal medicine specialist ASAP if you are not already there. I pray for you and your pup as this is quite a serious condition. Please keep us updated and if we can help in anyway we will.

| Hey guys, Sorry for the late reply. Thank you all for the replies. Taco had to undergo surgery- perineal urethrostomy and cystotomy. Well, Taco is all well and being treated at home now with occasional visits to the vet. His surgery was highly complicated considering his size, but praise God, all went well. Gemy, I stay in Bangalore,India. What had actually happened was that his insides around the urethra had decomposed. The stones weren't the threat. So he's using a tube to pass urine meanwhile. All is going well so far and he'll be fit to run around soon. Tiffanyandteddy - thanks for your prayers. I have 3 more yorkies and my wife takes good care of them all--God bless |
