| Abnormal Heart? Hi all - didn't post this in the sick or injured thread because I honestly don't know that he's "sick". So, we got out little Magnus this past Sunday. He's been absolutely amazing. We're already totally in love with the little guy. I took him to the vet (not because of any symptoms of anything). He had some diarrhea and I was concerned. Vet figured it was stress. New home - away from his mom. However, after listening to his heart. He said he was concerned and that Magnus has an abnormal heartbeat (not a murmur). Of course I was instantly upset. He's referring us to a cardiologist. Said its possible he can outgrow it and maybe its nothing serious. I'm finding myself pretty upset about it and worrying. He's feeling better (no more diarrhea). He eats/drinks/poops/pees and everything just great. He's playful and loving. Anyone know anything about this or heard of it before? I know it could probably be any number of things. I contacted the breeder and she thinks I'm overreacting and to give it 5 months. Returning him is NOT an option. The puppy is ours and we wouldn't even dream of giving him back. I know that no matter what the outcome, he's in the best place he can be! |

| Right after we got Chili we got a similar diagnosis. It ended up being nothing. You should go ahead and take your baby to the cardiologist to make sure. The peace of mind is priceless. |

| Well us human adults can sometimes have an arrhythmia from dehydration, stress etc. don't know about puppies but he could be a bit dehydrated from the diarrhea and stressed from being away from his Mom. I think you should at least get him checked out. |

We're definitely taking him. Just waiting on the referral. I had him in twice this week. Once because of the diarrhea and then when he was better for his first shots/deworming. Heart sounded the same. | |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Did he say what was abnormal about it? Did he say if he thought it was atrial or ventricular or anything about the disrhythmia itself?

| Megan had PDA, or blue baby syndrome, 16 years ago it was a $2,500 operation with a 50/50 chance of her surviving the surgery. We couldn't afford it and the risk was too great to take the gamble, we were told that she wouldn't live past her first year. Megan died on May 28th last year two weeks after turning 15. Have you puppy checked out, hopefully it's just stress and he's none the worse, 1 thing to look out for is coughing with a white foam, when he's hot or playing hard, that's how we knew Megan was sick. Megan was my first Yorkie, and my constant companion, unless she got cold, then only my wife would do as she puts off way more BTUs than I do. Good luck and please keep us informed. Cheers Quad

| Wow. I so love auto correct. I obviously meant heard back. Not heart back :/ Thanks so much! He makes this teeny tiny whistling sound when he sleeps. It's almost inaudible. I'll be happy to have some answers. |

| Did you call the vets office and ask what was abnormal? I would ask for a copy of the report and go pick it up. That way you know exactly what you are dealing with and have questions ready for the specialist. You can't be to prepared... I hope all goes well. Keep us posted!
