| 11 week old pup not eating, help! Hi ! I just brought home a new baby the other day. She is 11 weeks old and refuses to eat. She is not sick yet and need to figure something out before that happens. She hates her food. Only likes hot dogs which is not good! Any tips on what I can feed her before I start having problems with her sugar!? |

| New baby Hi. Welcome to YT :-) Congratulations on your new little girl! Sorry she is not eating as that is concerning in such a young pup. Was she eating normally before you got her and what did she eat then? It is good to stick to the food they are used to for a while until they are adjusted to the new home etc. If you don't know about the food could you try her on some good quality canned food first and then kibble mixed in? Boiled chicken and rice they usual like but that is not a completely nutritious diet for the long term. I would not give her hot dogs, not good food and you do not want to train her to eat them or she may not eat regular food afterwards. What is her weight by the way? You may need Nutrical if she really eats nothing, to keep her sugar up. I suggest if she does not eat soon, take her to the vet. Good luck! |

| Hi! I totally agree with everything the previous poster said. In addition, make sure that the size of your pups kibble is not too big. Sometimes that can cause them not to eat as much. |

| Hi and welcome to YT! Did the beeder/seller tell you what they were feeding and/or send some food home with you? They should have so you could keep your puppy on the same food and change over slowly. Your vet should recommend a good puppy food as well. Lots of us feed our Yorkies different dog foods and some cook for their pups. There are lots of threads here about what to feed Yorkies. Just no more hot dogs please.

| Hi, I'm brand new to this forum too and also have a problem with Abbey and her appetite! When I brought her home, she was eating fine and I was feeding her the same thing the breeder had ... plus her Nutri Cal... and then...ooops!... we went on a little get-away with her and my 8 yr. old grandson, and up popped the devil! Even though I had all her food with us...we ate out all the time...and she was tucked in a puppy purse (was an angel!), but we kept giving her little bites of what we were eating...some chicken, some hamburger..etc., well...to make a long story short...she now much prefers human food and I'm having a devil of a time getting her to eat her food! I've worried myself sick...asked the vets every time she's been in, to no avail. I have to scramble her an egg in the a.m...with cheese and chicken....etc.... don't fall prey to what I have. I'm having such a problem!!! And I love her to death and want her to be healthy! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Are you feeding her the same thing the breeder was? For this young of a pup to not be eating can be very dangerous as they can go downhill FAST and not eating is one of the worst signs that something is really wrong. Please get her to a vet if she is still refusing her food.
