As of today, since he has not shown any negative reactions on the ivomec shot given yesterday I'll continue with the plan. I'll just ask my vet thoroughly on saturday regarding the possible negatives effects and what we can do to combat them.

I'll constantly update this thread as to his condition

DEAR OP,
I beg you to get a second opinion before dismissing what your experienced vet prescribed. I would even suggest a vet dermatologist. But please do not rely on just the homeopathic remedy. I've seen many many many pups here and at the shelter suffer miserably because of inadequate care, please for you and Boogies sake please yield to proven remedies and perhaps you could certainly use the homeopathic remedy WITH your vets AFTER you get the ok.


What medicated shampoo did he prescribe?

I will discuss everything to my vet. Though it is a small patch I am very very afraid of what might happen to him that is why i rushed him to the vet. With regards to the other treatments mentioned in this thread I'll also ask my vet's opinion on this.

That is awesome! Your doing a great job with this pup, your tenacity now will insure a great outcome.


Do you have a binder? Get a 3 ring binder and fill it up with paper, notate everything from day one. Keep a good history/diary of this for yourself and future reference. Insert the pages from the vets as you get them.


LOL at your tune...I imagine many of us would NOT want anyone to hear the way we really talk and sing to our pups!!! Honestly I loveeeee the whole sound of Boogie Woogie Wonderland!!!! lolololol

You cant prevent the mites all dogs have them. To get mange the dogs immune system gets down and the mites rapidly reproduce and that causes the mange. I dont see anything wrong with giving an immune system booster though. I love the name Boogie Man it reminds me of that old KC and the Sunshine Band song. I think your doing a really good job caring for Boogie Man

It's always wise to be a partner with your vet in the care of your animals. There is lots of stuff on the Internet; some very good, some very bad. But what all that information lacks is the hands on knowledge of your pet and your pet's history/ contributing factors, etc.
