Bobbi I did NOT totally dismiss your suggestion, I said use it in concert with the PRESCRIBED therapy but again OP, please check with your vet.


Your advice in NOT following a vets orders regarding a well known condition, without reading the chart or examining this particular dog is out of line, IMHO.

I merely suggested looking into it. I did not write an order. Wow, you ladies are D-R-A-M-A-T-I-C.

What a shame that a seasoned YTer says something like this...differences of opinion's is both welcomed and respected when its within the lines of making any sense whatsoever. Things get hot but that's to be expected with differing opinions. But in the end so much is learned and so much info is put out there for others to make their own determinations, opinions and to help pups.

Nothing personal here either, I assure you. I also assure you that I'm not talking crack pot solutions for mild cases. I've had my personal vet support my chosen treatment for fosters time and time again.

I feel it is obvious that extreme cases need immediate aggressive care, but that is not what it sounds like the OP is speaking of, so I simply suggested another idea. I do not appreciate being name-called (irresponsible) or mocked (voodoo nonsense) because I give a very valid option to consider. I'm sure a reasonable person, which you seem to be, can understand that.

If it is true good for you but I dont believe it. However you are telling this person to home treat this mange and not be under vet supervision or supportt because no vet would accept this quackey method of treatment.

Yes, it is a shame. It is possible to agree or disagree without being rude. Bobbi was treated rudely for giving an opinion, I always have and always will find that a disappointment on YT. This is one of those threads that has lost it's way and should be locked.

Seriously...what on earth gives you the right to call me a liar or be so nasty to me? How would lying about this benefit me, like, AT ALL? Yeah...I have three kids and a husband, and are expecting a new pup, and I get my jollies going around the internet trying to hurt tiny dogs....

Thanks...I've faced less rudeness on Parenting forums and Pit Bull forums than this. It's kind of shocking. Didn't realize a harmless difference of opinion could be taken so far as to name call and the like.

I take the health of a pup, known or unknown to me EXTREMELY serious, dramatic? Seeing another family bring another scared to death dog to the shelter because they didn't do what they should have in the beginning and now could no longer afford to care for their pup that IS D R A M A T I C.......This is not about you sweetie its about the OP's pup.

I have been on here 9 yrs and if you dont think in that time on here I have not seen many people claim to be something they are not you are misttaken. It is the internet and unless you give your dads name and credentials so I can have the benefit of looking him up I dont believe you for a minute. I was called irresponsible from minute ONE for suggesting something different. Again, it was a suggestion to look into. Anyone who wouldn't discuss it with their vet and research it on their own doesn't deserve a dog anyhow.

I think everyone has a right to an opinion this is more serious than an opinion. She told the op to ignore his vets plan of treatment and do hers and the Op was going along with it' She is not a vet and not qualified to treat mange however she has deemed herself qualified. It is dangerous and it doesnt matter to me who it is that does that I will always speak up

Try to keep in mind a lot of us have been on this board for years and have seen what happens when someone goes against there vets advise and try's a non proven method/home remedies and some have really had some very tragic out comes and that sticks with you for a long time. One of the problems with home remedies is there is no testing done on them to see what they can do to the dogs body or if they can cause problems that don't pop up until the future. Maybe the op will ask their vet about the method you suggested and see what they think.
