| Armani has HGE Nice way to start my Sunday. Poor Armani had a very bloody stool this morning. He ate and was kind of looking a bit down but nothing really remarkable. I thought about it for a while but then opted to take him to the EC. He is always so healthy...this is just so abnormal for him. I half thought I was crazy...but something was telling me to go. Thank God I listened to that little voice. He has HGE....thankfully early and had subcutaneous fluids and metronidazole with instructions to watch closely and return if further bleeding. The vet was one of my favorites...he said that he was borderline for being hospitalized but he did feel it was early enough that he would be fine as long as I watch him closely which he also said he knew I would do. My poor baby .. he is now acting a bit run down...must not be feeling so hot. Hope this does not get worse...

| I'm sorry you're going through this with Armani. Halo has had a few flare ups with HGE as well, it's terrifying ! This happens randomly and for no reason, the cause isn't known. I'm always asked if there's been any stress that could have brought this on (and that makes me feel so guilty, I don't stress until this happens !) Hopefully the meds will stop this for Armani...it happens every 6 months or so with Halo. One thing that will help is Pepcid AC 10 mg. Half a tablet for 5 lbs. of weight every day. When Halo has flare ups, I also give SQ fluids if she gets dehydrated and if she's throwing up, Cerenia and Sucralfate in addition to Metronidazole. I always keep these meds on hand in case a flare up sneaks up on me when then the vet is closed. Good luck & I hope this helps !! |

I have a supply of med's on hand here in case she starts showing signs, then it's off to the Vet for blood work. Pryaing he is feeling better soon.

| Thank goodness you caught it early and he's under treatment. I sure hope he gets better quickly and it won't take days before he's better, poor baby. I'm praying for little Armani to get better ASAP, Linda. I know how it scares us when one of our babies is very sick and looking so miserable.

| It really has my head spinning. Armani is never sick. Now, on top of it, Olivia is acting funny. She did not eat this morning but she does that sometimes...but she just had diarrhea. Ugh...will watch her and also see if she eats this afternoon. I pray her liver is not acting up again.

| Adding Armani and Olivia to my prayers Linda, I'm sorry to hear about your babies. And in the middle of all your worries, you took the time to talk to me about Piper. You are an amazing person. |

| Poor Armani......she's so sweet and lovable. I hope he is making a quick recovery. Just read further and see that Olivia is also sick.

| Thanks everyone. Both pups are doing fine. I had to go to Galveston with friends, so I took Armani and Pippi with me. He was tired and slept a lot but no further BMs!!! Olivia ate before I left and seemed ok. If she has any further issues, will take her to my vet in AM.

| Thank goodness. Never heard of a case of HGE sx. ending this soon. Great work, mommie, getting him in and diagnosed ASAP. Amazing - hope he stays well and so does Olivia.
