| somewhat regular vomiting.. please help I have posted quite a few times regarding Reese's weight problem and that she is prone to vomiting. All of the appropriate tests were taken a short while ago.. Thyroid, various blood tests, all were thankfully negative. My vet does feel that she might have colitis, or a very slight case of pancreatitis, but nothing was ever confirmed. What we do know for sure is that she is vomiting clear bile, mixed with undigested food on a regular basis. At times it looks like pure water. We are working on two separate issues, or at least that is what I was told. She is overweight to some degree, for her frame, yet she seems to vomit more than she eats. We have added a few new foods in recent weeks if not months but she did seem to handle them pretty well. We would ween her off old food for week, and then add a new food, wait at least three days and possibly add another. We do the same as I did for my human babies. Making sure that her stomach will agree with the new foods. I am extremely worried about her this evening. She had vomited more than we have ever seen, over the past few hours. My vet is not in.. the emergency is, but I am not too thrilled about that office and to be honest they charge an absolute fortune. Obviously if it is necessary and she continues this over the next couple of hours or seems lethargic. we will take her. I was wondering if anyone has gone through this. I must admit that over the past couple of years.. she is almost 3 1/2 it seems to be getting worse. I have asked my vet on many occasions for the best food/diet.. and was told to put her on Eukanuba Optimum weight loss.. I never saw any results. We have now changed her to Wellness.. does anyone else use it? I have now heard that it might be too rich for her, aside the fact that the kibbles are huge. She is on Wellness lite. If you do have experience with continuous vomiting, please contact me. It always seems that when we feel we must start taking all of the tests again, she stops vomiting for a week or so. Any advice would be appreciated. My teenage daughters are extremely upset tonight and would like to be able to console them. We did research it on sevearl sites, but there weren't too many answers. Sorry, as usual, for my longwinded questions. Thanks you for all of your help. We wish all of you a very Happy and Healthy New Year. Randy |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I've not had this. My mom has a malt that has a similar condition...will be walking and all of a sudden just throw up for no reason. Vet just gave them small pills to give her and she hasn't had a problem with it. Sorry, that I couldn't be of much help. Best of luck to you and Reese and I hope that the vomitting stops and she gets better.

| Reese's constant vomiting Thank you. I am going to take her to a new vet. I would like a second opinion. I know we will get into the entire process again, of numerous tests, but unfortunately I feel that we have to start from square one again. I am unsure of the pills that you are speaking of, but I will ask my vet. I just think that they have thrown their hands up, therefore I need the advice of another specialist. Thanks again. I appreciate the your suggestion and will ask my vet. Have a great evening. Randy |

| I would put a bit of honey in her drinking water and get her to drink often until you get her to your new vet. Before you go, pick up your old records with test results it will make the transition much easier. Can I ask why you have your little one on a lite food? Do you change the food brands often? That sometimes can cause vomiting. At 3.5 years I wouldnt think lite food would be necessary and something could be missing in her diet. here is a good article http://www.vin.com/VINDBPub/SearchPB...00/PR00421.htm hope this helps

| We have been having this problem with Bentley....had him at the vet last week for it again and if it continutes he's going to have to go through the run of tests. Sounds like your dog is doing exactly what Bentley does...he had a bad episode last week and we rushed him to the vet. It's been an ongoing thing here too off and on and I've been really worried about it. He hasn't thrown up in about three days now...but just like you said..he can go a week or so without doing it, but then it's back again. We've tried everything and if it starts again he'll have to go in for tests. Please keep an update on how Reese is doing and what your vet says as I'd really like to know as well. Feel free to PM or email me!!! I'm reading that article now that feminvster posted.

In August this year he started vomiting but no runs, he could be sick a dozen times a day bringing up his food and then yellow bile he went from 3 1/2kg to 2kg in a very short time he spent a week at the vets had a biopsy opperation and spent days on a iv, again was put down to his colitus. He is on tablets daily:- Metronidazole, Prednicare( steriod) and just started a new one called imuran. He is still sick most days but only once or twice, the new tablets we are hopeing he will have more sick free day's. His diet was changed to Hills prescription z/d kibble diet he was on that for a couple of month to rest his tummy he now has that with Royal canin and a little fresh chicken as a treat. His weight is around 2.5kg and his hair is very thin he sleeps a lot but seem a lot happier. My vet has been very good with Robbie and when we are not at the vets which is most weeks she will phone to see how he is doing. Thank goodness for pet insurance as my bill to date since August is £3000. With all Robbie's problems he is such a good dog and seems to understand we are trying to help him. When Rob was at his worst the vet advised trying to rest his tummy no food for twelve hours only water and then use a baby blender to blend cooked chicken and small amount of rice so it was smooth for his tummy to digest this helped a little. Hope this helps and Reese gets better soon good luck. | |

| We have tried and tried the fasting and chicken and white rice and used the perscrition canned dog food from the vet and it seems to help for a few days but then he starts throwing up again It's been worse in the last month or so. Before that it wasn't quite as bad and we just figured he had a sensitive stomach...which he does but I don't think it's the whole problem. We cut out anything extra like treats or snacks and even any kind of chew treats. Been giving raw carrots on occasion for a treat. This last bout with it...he hasn't had any diareaha at all. We have had pet insurance on Bentley since we got him as a puppy but just canceled it a few months ago Anyway, I'm gonna write down the medicine you posted about and ask our vet about it. He otherwise LOOKS as healthy as he can be but you can just tell that something isn't right. Last week the vet gave him a shot of antibiotics and fluids and that night he felt better and played like I had not seen him do in a long long time.

| Reese still has vomited since 1:30 am Thank you for all of the responses. Thankfully she slept fine and so far it is almost 12 here and hasn't vomited. She even ate just her regular wellness food. Does anyone use that food. Wellness lite? I am going to pick up some rice just in case she has a problem later. My family very rarely gives her any table food with the exception of chicken and rice (the rice when she has problems with her stomach). Now we have introduced string beans, unsalted, and an occasional baby carrot. She too sleeps a lot but I always thought that was just her nature. She is not your typical hyper or somewhat hyper yorkie. She does play a lot but is not a walker, which we must get her out of. We will be watching her closely this weekend hoping that she gets through this, although I am quite sure we will be back again for a series of tests. I was thinking of calling a new vet this Monday, just to get a new perspective on her situation. Again, I hope that all of your babies will do much better in the New Year. Have a happy and healthy New Year. Thanks again for all of your help. I am also going to ask about the meds. Randy |

| Reese and her vomiting Hi: Thank you so much for asking. I am sorry to hear about Robbie. We pretty much have the same with Reese. She will be fine for two or three days and then something will trigger it again. She had that reflux this morning.. nothing came out but she woke up making those gagging sounds. My daughter dropped a little piece of American Cheese, which she used to eat quite often, and that might have triggered it. She was acting perfectly fine yesterday, but then I was woken up by her gagging. It is so frustrating. I will have to also bring her back in for further tests. She did in fact lose almost 2 lbs.. since we have her on such a strict diet, but now I wonder if it has something to do with the frequent vomiting, as well. It is so sad to see her continuously going through this, although I must admit it bothers us more than it appears to bother her. I hope all is well with Robbie.. Let me know how the tests come out. Thanks again for asking about Reese. Randy |
