| change in behavior Hi guys... I am new to this so please bare with me... I recently got a yorkie and he has been great until about a week ago, He gets very irritable when I or my boyfriend touches his fur, near his butt. he will growl and go to bite us. And then he runs into his crate and does not want anything to do with us..His skin looks fine, from our perspective but I am not sure why.. his behavior throughout the rest of the day and night is fine. Thanks in advance for any help. I just want to make sure my baby is okay... |

| Have you had him to a vet yet ? If not you need to take him in for a check up. Could be a back or hip problem or maybe his anal glands are full. How old is he ? |

| He was at the vet around a month ago and got neutered he seemed fine and he is just over a year old. I do want to add that he is okay when we hold him or is sitting in a lap. He only gets frustrated when you are trying to figure out what is wrong or trying to examine him. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I'm worried that your baby is in some kind of pain. I would really take him to the vet and have this area looked at....it could only be anal glands but regardless, his reaction seems like a pain reaction to me. Also, are you saying he is a yr old, but you've only had him recently? Bc if that's the case, it makes me wonder what happened to him in that area prior to you having him . Wonder if his bottom got nicked by a groomer or something, ya know? Try to slowly desensitize him too...start by petting him on his back, near the top of his tail, and only slightly move your hand a little closer to his bottom each time....in other words, you're trying to teach him that touching that area isn't always going to = pain or something.

| Took him to the vet today and his anal glands were full. We were lucky because the weren't infected and the hadn't ruptured which is bad!!! Thanks everyone for input!! He is doing better still a little sensitive down there but they said it would be like that for a few days.. |

| Awww! Poor guy... a year or so ago we also learned the hard way about anal glands! Logan turned into a total GROUCH and we couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. As Yorkie parents, you live and you learn. Glad your little guy is better! |

| Our baby had to have her anal glands removed! She was just a year old. The surgery was in May, and its great to not have to take her to the vet every week! Make sure you keep an eye on that area.
