YT 500 Club Member | Vomiting yellow bile My 3 and a half year old, Fritz, just vomited bright yellow bile. We, the pups and me, were taking a short nap and I woke to The sound of Fritz throwing up. He imediately wanted me to love on him for two seconds then he was ready to go into the family room to play. He has his normal energy level and he doesn't feel too warm. What is this nasty stuff? Do I need to be worried.

| Typically yellow bile means an empty stomach. When was the last time he ate?

YT 500 Club Member | He just picks at his food when I am at work. DH said he hasn't eaten much and there was only 1 piece of food in the vomit. Do you think I should cook him some chicken and rice so he eats good?

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I have read lots of posts here for dogs who vomit bile when the haven't eaten in a while, like first thing in the morning. I would agree to make him a little chicken just to make sure he has something in his stomach.

| We all do. . Yellow bile usually means empty tummy. Sounds like you have a plan already and I'm sure he will be fine.

| Yellow foam Yes this seems to be fairly common in dogs who tend to have an acidy stomach and haven't eaten for some time. I had this problem and found that giving meals at more frequent intervals and a snack before bed helps. If he does not eat when you are gone is it possible he does not like that food, and that some other kibble or even canned could be fed if he is alone? If he continues to throw up foam he should see a vet for a check and possibly be given an antacid such as Pepsid. I found that my dog would also behave normally afterwards and usually eat like nothing happened! |

| Agree with the other posts. Zoey vomits bile in the morning if I don't get up early and feed her ASAP. Also, she gets veggies at night before bedtime to hold her through the night. I hate it when she barfs - make her beard STINK!!

| I have a pup who was having issues with vomiting bile in the mornings when he first woke up. I started giving him a very light snack of his kibble at bedtime and it has stopped it. The chicken and rice is an ok fix, but for long term I would not do it because you are going to end up with a finicky eater. Maybe smaller and more frequent meals will help him.

YT 500 Club Member | He seems to be fine. No more incidents. I have been watching him like a hawk making sure he's eating. Thanks for all of your reassurances.
