| Grapes??? I hate that this is my first post - but I am worried. My tiniest Yorkie puppy, Bailey, is almost 12 weeks old (on the 25th) and is about 1 lb. My daughter (teen) was carrying her plate to the kitchen and literally ONE half of an uneaten purple grape fell on the floor and Bai beat her to it. He had it down before I could stop him. I know that dogs cannot have grapes, and we rarely even buy them - but the one time we do - well this happens! Is there anything I should be doing? Is he going to be okay? |

| Until someone else posts, I will tell you to call your vet's office and ask them asap. I'm not sure how much is too much for a 1 lb pup so quicker response will come with a phone call to the vet. I'm sorry this had to be your first post, too. Please update us ok?

| I agree with MandiesMom. Call the vet, tell them what happened and let them tell you what the best approach is. Keep us updated

| Bailey. . . Our vet says that he should be fine with such a small amount ingested and just to watch him for any sort of "unusual" behavior. . . My heart is racing - and I feel so bad. Prayers please for my little boy! |

| Bailey. . . The vet told me that I didn't need to bring him in and that he should be fine with the small amount ingested. =( I feel horrible and am still very worried. He is laying in my arms right now, as I type, and seems just fine - and happy to be with Mommie (like always). My heart is racing though. . . gosh I love my babies (all of them) so much!! Thanks for helping and caring!! |

| I'm so sorry this happened, and that you got so worried. Twenty years ago, I didn't know about the dangers of grapes, and my best friend and I, who had an American Eskimo Dog, gave our little ones frozen grapes and raisins on more than one occasion. I would never do it now, but my Yorkie didn't have any lasting effects that I am aware of. Today I read everything I can, and I thought I did then, too, but now information is much more readily available to us. Welcome to YorkieTalk. There is a wealth of information here, and there are also such warm and compassionate people here who are always willing to lend a hand. |
