| Please Help ASAP!! I need advise, please help. My daughter took my yorkies a bath and decided to tie their hair up around the bottom area as I do. But she tied the rubberband around their actual tail and not on the hair itself. The tail is swollen, red and bleeding. Wwhat should I do??? Does anyone know or can advise me on what to do??????? PLEASE.....

| Is it gashed or bleeding ALOT? If its bleeding alot & its a deep wound, I would take it to the vet because you might need stitches. For now I would wrap some gauze or something like that around the wound to put pressure on it. Pressure helps the bleeding stop. Maybe even put some ice or something cold like frozen veggies on it, if the dog will let you. That will help w/ the swelling. Please keep us updated!

| It's not gushing blood, the band cut the circulation on the tail and it's bright red. There is some blood, but I think the blood it was them biting at the band. I noticed all this when I saw Mia biting her tail non stop, I ran and woke my oldest daughter to help me cut the bands off. Then I ran to check Pierce and he had the same thing. I am going to try to place something frozen on them and hope and pray it goes down. <fingers crossed>

| OMG. You must be frantic. If it's not gushing blood, and you've removed the bands-watch the color and make sure they aren't blue. If not, you caught it in time and everything will probably be back to normal by morning. Something similar happened to my son when he was a baby. I noticed his third toe was BLUE when I changed his socks. A piece of string had wrapped around his toe and cut off circulation for who knows how long. Talk about a freaked out and guilty mom!! Anyway, I removed the string, cleaned the area and kept neosporin on it like the doctor told me and everything was back to normal in no time. Hopefully it will be the same for your furbabies!

| If it still looks bad in the morning I would take them to the vet, also. I think it would be like you putting a rubberband on your finger for about an hour. All swollen and the blood not circulating. Thank goodness you noticed when you did or they might have lost part of their tails.

| THANK YOU! I definetely have some relief...I trully panicked and freaked out when I saw it. I feel so terribly for them but they are not complaining of any pain they are hopping around playing. I will monitor it all night and if I see changes they are definetely going to the vet asap. Thank you for the support guys!

| That is good news How old is your daughter? Did the words come up "What were you thinking" and I mean this in a nice way. She was trying to do what she has seen you do. I also put rubberbands around one of my girls in the back because her hair is so thick and long she really has a problem going the bathroom and keeping clean back there. Even when I did it the other day I had her tail in the ponytail and had to undo it.

| Keep an eye on the little tail. If the swelling goes down (and it should quickly) and the tail stays a pink healthy color - plus your dog is playing and doesn't appear to be bothered anymore - I'm sure everything is okay. It's a good thing you caught this - if the circulation had been cut off a lot for a long period of time --you would have had a real problem!!! Carol Jean |

| Hi guys! Well I have good news to report. My little angels are doing fine!!!! <yay > I kept a watch on them all night and in the morning most of the swelling had gone down. It was still a bit red, but not the bright red it used to be which freaked me out. Mia has a little scabbing, but I think it was her trying to bite off the rubberband. Pierce has some black and blue bruising, but it doesn't seem to bother him which is a good sign. As some of you may know I was terrified since it happened so late at night and I'm not near the animal hospital. Thank you all for the help and support!!! Wishing everyone a very Merry Merry Christmas!![B]
