Senior Yorkie Talker | Not adjusting after neuter Hi, all, I read all the time but don't post much. My baby, Milo (7 months) just got neutered yesterday and he is off the wall! He constantly tries to lick his wound and the cone is not stopping him. So my husband went out and bought a onesie (for babies) and diapers. That worked until he soaked it with his pee. He runs and jumps all over like nothing happened. However, his surgery site looks red and we are worried. I am planning to call the vet tomorrow and my husband is wound tighter than a drum! Has anyone else been through this? Any suggestions? The Onesie is in the wash as I type. |

| Did you get pain medication for him? My vet gives all my dogs Torbutrol in Vitamino for post op pain...I give it every 4-6 hours, as needed for pain OR SEDATION....it keeps them calm and not so wired and crazy...and it is great for the pain. Are you medicating Milo with pain meds? Talk to your vet...he needs it more often to kind of take him down a notch and keep him from running around like a whirling durbish..... |

| I'm sorry Milo wet his onesie but I just had Mandie spayed yesterday also and after all the advice here and from my vet...it really is the way to go over the cone. I agree with the meds for a calming affect. The meds my vet gave Mandie is only 1/2 pill once a day according to the instructions. However, it has kept her pretty mellow. Otherwise I think she would be trying to play with big brother. If the site is red, it is probably from him licking but definitely call the vet and let them know.
