Donating YT 500 Club Member | I am stumped.. Taycie has an appointment for the vet today:( Sorry this is so long! Please bare with me on my explaination.. I am really at a loss so I hope this makes some sense. I am so confused on why Taycie does this so we are headed to the vet in a few hours to hopefully get some answers. This has happened off and on for the last few weeks and last night was the worst.. I almost headed to the E.R vet last night. Here is the low down and I will try to explain it the best I can. This happens when she is sleeping. She will be all snuggled in.. in puppy dream land.. (completly dead asleep) and then out of the BLUE she will jump up like she just got stung by a bee. She will run around with her tail between her legs and act like she either got pinched or stung.. I still am lost why she does this... Her stomach will become hard like a rock and I know she hurts She can't seem to get comfortable and she will do this entire seniero repeatedly.. Last night I gave her a pepcid and some Baby Mylicon gas drops and about 3am I decided we would be ok to wait until morning. Anyway...Taycie has quite the history with her senstive stomach. She is on Tylan powder along with RX food and this has really done wonders for her. However on recent blood panels her bloodwork has come back with ever so slightly elevated liver enzymes.. It is very slight.. Seriously like a 5 points higher then normal. My vet is very aware of this..and we decided to see what her panel will pull in a few months after her last exam. So the plan is to go back next month and re -run blood work and see where numbers are sitting and discuss further options. As far as her general health these last few months she has been great. Normal BM's. Eats drinks.. Her poop was completley normal this morning.. No vomiting nothing.. She ate great this morning as well. So I am stumped! And rather then have another crazy night like last night I am taking her in. To me, she seems like it could be gas pains however she is not stinky in the slightest.. So Basically I have no idea what is going on. If she was having crazy BMs or vomiting I would have ran to the vet last night in a heartbeat but she is functioning completely normal that way. Any thoughts appreciated so I have something maybe I can discuss with my vet today in further detail.. Thanks!

| That is odd because its only happening at night when shes sleeping and I have no idea I quess it could be gas but it seems strange it only happens at that time. That has to be scary though and I hope you get some answers at the vet

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I know! Right? And yes this only happens when she is sleeping. It has happened a few times while she is asleep during the day on my lap but its very rare.

| Aww poor Taycie. I hope you get some answers. I know how scary that is. I used to have a Min Pin that did that but she was special needs with some permanent nerve damage. My vet thought her nerve damage was the reason for her outbursts as he never could find something else wrong. He basically said everything relaxes when they sleep and gets shifted around and she probably shifts to a positon that is painful or pinches a nerve. I hope your vet can give you some answers. I just hate worrying about their health.

At the vet today we mostly talked about how we would diagnosis the problem. She goes into tomarrow for X-rays as she needs to be fasted for best results. We talked about also doing a Bile Acids tests, more bloodwork and possibly and ultrasound. So that is the plan for now. I'll know more after put appt. tomarrow. She is on Pepcid for now to also help with discomfort. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we try to sort this out.

| I tried Tibbe on Royal Canin GI but he really itched from that so switched to the Hill's I/D. He was still symptomatic for another week - 10 days and then from time-to-time and had that mucus in his stool for another 2 weeks or so most days but eventually, over time, he quit jumping awake and acting scared, reverse sneezing, the hard belly that would blow up stopped happening and he became Tibbe again! Got back to his devilish ways and playing and slept like a log and I walked on eggs for another month and still do to some extent but he's stayed steady now for 6 - 8 weeks! I must have taken him to the vet 6 - 7 times during those 5 weeks when he was sick and they kept assuring me he'd be fine as did Crystal and sure enough, he is! He had one little bad day after foraging outside and came in licking his chops so I know he ate something from the yard and the next day he lay around with a gassy tummy and did a bit of reverse sneezing. Gave him Pepcid & withheld his food most of the day and by that night he ate some dry kibble, was back to himself the next day. So he went for years having a castiron stomach and then this summer, he got a touchy one. But, thank goodness, it has been treatable and he's back being himself in all other ways except for me watching his diet and feeding him only the Hill's I/D, even his treats are made from it. I think by the end of this month, I'll start to switch him very gradually to his Wellness or whatever it is Crystal said she feeds one or more of her dogs. I hope he can tolerate the change. I hope little Taycie will start to feel better soon. Maybe she just ate something she found lying about & it upset/irritated things and she's going to get better in a few days - week or so. I sure pray she does. If she's not having really dramatic symptoms you might wait a day or two for further testing just to see if it's only an irritation/spasm situation.

| If mylicon was only used for gas please be careful its a simethicone med. After reading more on it I switched to Hylands Colic Tablets.

| Emily, I am sorry to hear Taycie is having these episodes. I am praying that you and your vet will be able to solve this mystery quickly. Sounds like Taycie is on a strict diet, but I wanted to mention that Teddy had a couple episodes of screaming and acting like he was scared in the middle night that were related to gas -- always happened after I gave him something like apple, green beans, or something else fibery outside of his normal diet. He can't have veggies or fruit.
