| That's actually great if he tries to use that leg! My Adina was using hers on day one...I have had others take a bit longer. Bottom line, he will not injure himself if he uses it. I am happy to hear that he is doing well.

| This is very helpful info. The vet tech who did the "check out" when we took P-Nut home said he should not put any weight on the operated leg for 3-4 days, so I got worried when P tried to do just that. They also said his activity will have to be limited for 6 weeks - that means mostly staying in his pen and taking only short walks to go potty. That sounds like a long time to be "penned" (we have a large-ish "playpen" for him, it's not a small crate, rather, it's about 6' x 4' or something close to that, but still)- I'm going to ask the vet about it, shouldn't he be able to get more exercise than that? We don't plan to keep him locked up, that's for sure. He's already been on our laps and on the bed with us, lying down, carefully watched. Now he's resting and listening to meditation music (I AM from California, you know) |

| Day 3 post-surgery - The Nut is resting a lot, he was pretty active yesterday, I think that wiped him out. He's putting a bit of weight on the affected leg here and there and actually walked on all fours for a brief moment today. Eating pretty well, all "functions" are normal and the fentanyl patch comes off this afternoon. We're hoping the pain level after that will be manageable with the tramadol he's also on. Just thought I'd post an update and thanks to all again for helping me get through this with some sanity left. |
