| i would just be sure you get as much out without hurting him. any reason its stuck...did he eat something, or is he in pain or having trouble passing?? if so i would go the vet immediately. if it was just a softer stool that didnt make it all way a warm bath will help to pass what is stuck if there is no obstuction or whatnot.

| Ziva had a lot of problems with chewy type treats, they came out like crayons. We just used her kibble as treats. |

| Mikki had a problem with constipation and canned pumpkin did the trick! I think I gave her about a teaspoon full if I remember correctly. It really worked! Also, after the battle with this, we changed her food as well.

| I would also take a look at the food she is eating. If it is kibble you may want to moisten it a bit to a to make sure she is getting enough fluids. Mine like sweet potato so I give as treat throughout the day...it works for them. Good luck.

| I always put a little bit of pumpkin in my dog's food when he is constipated. Not canned pumpkin pie, just canned pumpkin. You can find it in the grocery store usually in the health food area. Once I open the can, I freeze what I don't use for those constipation emergencies. Good luck! |

Canned pumpkin is excellent for both constipation as well as diarrhea. Freezing is an excellent idea....I put what I dont use, plus another can, in those cheap plastic ice cube trays, freeze it, then I take the cubes out, put 3-4 of them in my little individual Food Saver plastic bags, suck the air out and throw them back into the freezer...they will last for at least a year like this! You just take out one pak of 3-4 cubes at a time....really saves on waste! I do the same thing with my new born puppy formula.... Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 06-16-2012 at 12:38 PM. | |

| I forgot to say, make sure you dont have hair around his little rectum, that stool is getting stuck on and then hardening...it acts just like a cork in a bottle of wine...and the baby can herniate himself, pushing and straining to have a bm.... |

| How is the constipation problem?

| Mine do not particularly like pumpkin. They do like apples and they seem to help mine just as much as pumpkin. Good luck. I know its terrible seeing the little thing hurt and miserable. |
